The Role
I really enjoyed my placement. My colleagues were amazing, treating me as if i wasn't 'just a placement student' but an equal to them, but still providing me with the support and help I needed.
Having my own project to work on and not just helping colleagues out with work load made me feel valued and allowed to contribute to the team.
Weekly meetings with my manager were set up. They weren't always needed, but were always there if I had any problems or concerns I wanted to discuss.
From the very first day of my placement I was given tasks to do. This lead to even more of a work load. Working in HR there is never quite moment as there is plenty to keep you busy. However, through great time management there was always time to complete tasks.
Before I started my placement I didn't think I would have as much responsibility as I thought I would be given. I was given a project of completing right to work checks for an immigration audit. This was great exposure to migrant works and what is required for them to work and feel it is my USP when applying for future roles.
The transferable skills I have gained whilst working here are greatly received. I have learn a great deal from presentation skills developed through facilitating training sessions to, communications skills between myself and other employees in different department and even countries. These skills will continue to be developed future amongst other skills I have also learnt.
The Company
My office was quiet and calm.
All was organisied. It was well structured and plans were set in place and deadlines were met when needed to be.
I received most of the training. The training that I wanted, but didn't receive was due to the location of the training and therefore was not feasible.

Cummins offer HR graduate roles and look to employee previous placement students for Graduate jobs before externally promoting the role.
The Culture
Yes. Many placements socialised outside of work with some even travelling for holidays and mini breaks.
Living in Ramsgate the cost of living is rather low. I opted for renting a room in a house rather than living on my own. This allowed me to meet people outside of work and worked very well with keeping work separate from my social life.
There is night life in Ramsgate however, Canterbury is a better place to go fro a big night out.
there is a sports and social club (through work) club here and also there are many groups around such as sailing clubs, dancing clubs and many gyms.
