The Role
PLEASE NOTE: This review was for a placement at Merrill Lynch prior to Merrill Lynch merging with Bank of America to become Bank of America Merrill Lynch. (The RateMyPlacement Team) I thoroughly enjoyed the experience although it was long hours.
Some colleagues were more appreciative than others.
Good direction given from the desk.
Varied across the three desk placements.
Again, varied across the desk placements. Given more than expected responsibility.
I believe I learned a lot which will help me in my future career.
The Company
Good atmosphere but tense due to turbulant martket conditions.
HR did a good job in organising the scheme. Still plenty of room for improvement.
Seminars and lectures were organised for the interns - all very interesting.
Subsidised Canteen
Merrill Lynch is not in a strong financial position. This was reflected in head-count.
The Culture
I made some really good friends.
Socialising was expensive in the area.
Nice bars open late, but all died around 9pm.
A few interns got involved in sport but that was about it.
