About You
This insight at Deutsche Bank was not only very enjoyable, but it was also very beneficial in terms of learning and development. It was clear to see how much effort had been put into to ensure we had an enjoyable experience and got the most out of the insight programme. It was a great opportunity to network and the interns really bonded well as a group.
I felt extremely valued throughout my time at Deutsche Bank. Everyone was extremely welcoming and we had the opportunity to meet senior leaders in the business, for example, the head of the UK division of the bank, who emphasised the strong need for graduate recruitment, which made me feel valued.
I always felt well supported on this programme. Before the programme began, the recruitment team were in constant contact with myself and the other interns. This ensured that we were all clear on the structure of the programme and allowed us to adequately prepare. Once on the programme, employees were more than happy to answer questions and supported us throughout our time at the bank.
This programme is undoubtedly very useful in terms of personal development and the skills and knowledge I developed during this time will benefit me going forward. I gained a better understanding of the day to day operation of the bank, as well as the division I was based in (M&A). This knowledge will benefit me as I enter my final year of my degree. Furthermore, I gained many transferable skills, such as presentation and communication skills.
The Company
I found this insight programme to be well structured. There was a good level of communication from the recruitment team before I began and I always knew who to turn to if I had any questions. The first two days consisted of introduction sessions and I found these days very beneficial. We had a clear timetable of activities planned throughout the insight.
I was quite nervous about starting this insight programme as I was expecting it to be a very intimidating environment, however, employees were extremely friendly and went out of their way to ensure we felt comfortable! I was able to get to know people on a personal level, as well as a professional level. Whilst employees are very focused on their roles, everyone is also up for having fun and overall, there was a great atmosphere!
It was very evident how much time and money was invested in our personal development by Deutsche Bank. We had a carefully organised timetable of activities and workshops that were aimed at our personal development and tailored to our needs as undergraduate students. We had the opportunity to meet senior members of the bank, who had taken time out of their busy schedules to speak with us.
I was able to gain a really clear understanding of what it would be like to have a full time role here. We spent a large proportion of the insight programme shadowing a desk, and this allowed me to really understand what people do on a day to day basis. Furthermore, we had the opportunity to speak with employees during our networking sessions and I found this time to be useful to ask questions about work life balance and average working hours etc.
The insight programme is a great opportunity to understand what the culture is like at Deutsche Bank.
This insight was really useful for helping me decide my future career path and has really cemented my intension to pursue a career in the banking and financial sector. I was able to understand the general operation of the bank as well as experience different divisions of the bank. Furthermore, this helped me to see where my skills would best be suited.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed expenses quickly.
There were lots of different opportunities to network on this insight programme. On a day to day basis, there was the chance to continuously meet new employees. My line manager also introduced me to lots of different people which was a beneficial way to network with employee in different departments.
Really great!
Yes, I gained a better understanding of activities that employees can get involved in outside of work and there are lots of opportunities.
I was absolutely recommend this insight programme to a friend as it is very beneficial in terms of personal development and this a positive thing to include in job applications and on CVs. The insight programme is a great learning experience and I felt that I really got a lot out of this programme so would recommend to anyone interested.
