The Role
I really enjoyed my time at the company and throughout my time, I felt really valued by the team at Cushman and Wakefield. There is a great atmosphere in the office. I had the opportunity to experience all areas of operations, spending time attending meetings and working on various sites, which meant I got a really well-round picture of what it is like to be a quantity surveyor.
Throughout my time at Cushman and Wakefield, I felt well valued. The work that I was completing was benefiting the team and my team seems to really appreciate the work that I was doing. My team were really welcoming and made an effort to get to know me, which also made me feel valued.
I always felt well supported and there was also someone I could turn to for guidance. I had meetings with my manager twice a week, where we discussed my work. During this time, I would ask questions. My manager also used to this time to focus on my personal development.
From day one, I was assigned a main project that I worked on throughout my time at Cushman and Wakefield. This always kept me busy and I always had something to be working on. In addition to this main project, I was assigned smaller tasks to complete, which meant I had some variety with my work.
I felt that I was given a lot of responsibly during my time at the company and I was treated like any other member of the team. I was expected to work autonomously on the project I was set, managing my time and workload. However, my manager often checked over my work and I always knew I could turn to my team for support.
The knowledge and skills that I have developed throughout my time at Cushman and Wakefield will be very beneficial in both my degree and future career pursuits. I study Real Estate at University so the knowledge I learnt will be very useful for me. In addition to this, I developed many transferable skills, such as communication and networking skills.
The Company
There was a great atmosphere in the office! Whilst everyone works hard, employees are up for having fun and everyone was really social.
The internship at Cushman and Wakefield was really well organised and there was a great induction day at the start of the programme. This provided us with the chance to network with employees and speak to graduates. Additionally, there were lots of development events organised for us throughout the internship programme.
There was a great level of investment in our personal development and training. Throughout the internship at Cushman and Wakefield, there were various sessions and workshops organised aimed at our personal development. In addition to this, my manager was very extremely supportive and spent a lot of time focusing on my personal development.

The future employment prospects are really appealing at Cushman and Wakefield! Following this internship, I have applied to the graduate scheme and I would love the opportunity to return to the company. I spoke to a number of grads currently on the scheme and they were very positive about it and spoke in depth about the level of support and training they received.
The Culture
I found there to be a really good social scene at the company. On a number of occasions, the interns were invited for drinks with the current graduates and these were very enjoyable evenings. As interns, we organised a number of social events after work and spent lunch breaks together most days.
Being based in Manchester, I found the city to be good value for money and renting property was affordable. I was easily able to find a nice flat in my price range for the duration of the placement and socialising in the evenings was equally affordable. I really enjoyed being based in Manchester for these reasons.
There is a great nightlife in Manchester, with plenty of bars, clubs, pubs and restaurants.
Yes, there were plenty of opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work, from sports teams to volunteering work.
