The Role
It was very enjoyable. Met many new people during the placement, made some good friends. The way the internship was organised was very good i.e. training, final ball. The way we completed feedback forms weekly was also useful - got a good idea on how we were performing and how we could improve.
Felt that all the colleagues made a good effort to include the interns in the group - went out for a weekly lunch all together. Handed us work when they needed help/ if we needed more work.
My buddy was very helpful. She assisted me in many areas, i.e. how to use certain computer programmes, answered questions when I was stuck, and generally helped make me feel comfortable within the team. The counsellor meetings were also useful, as we could be informed of potential areas we could improve, and have more knowledge of what the partner thought of our performance.
I was busy on a daily basis. Every week I was assigned to a new project, I also went to several client sites. I liked this, because I got a real feel for what the job actually entailed.
Given enough responsibility. I was able to complete most of the GAMx steps by the end of the internship, without needing much assistance. I was allowed to talk to the clients, and ask them of any queries we did have.
My skills developed immensely. I have a greater understanding of what the role entails, my communication skills have improved, I am more confident and my knowledge of pensions has much improved after the training course.
