About You
I really enjoyed the 3 days at the insight scheme. We gained lots of information about the firm through partners but also had the opportunity to get involved in group tasks. I haven't done anything like this before and would get involved with something similar after this experience.
I felt very valued, I never felt like I was just a student. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming within the firm especially the partners. We had the chance to ask questions and contribute.
There was lots of guidance and support during the insight from a range of different team members at DLA.
The skills I have gained will assist me. I also think the time that I have spent with DLA with help me especially when applying for their vacation scheme.
The Company
The insight was very well structured. It included a meal and drinks at a nice restaurant and also many opportunities to network. There was food and drink provided and lots of breaks which made the scheme less intense.
Very friendly and welcoming. All the other students were also very nice which made the whole experience a lot more fun.
The firm invested in us to an extent as lots of group tasks and networking was included. However, more application and tasks that would be on an assessment day would have helped.
The insight fully helped with this aspect. We got to talk to a range of different people from partners to new trainees meaning we got different perspectives of the day to day work in the firm.
This is one aspect that could have been expanded on more.
It has cemented my passion for DLA and I will be applying in the future.
Everything Else
There were many opportunities as mentioned above.
The first evening we had networking with pizza and drinks with the new trainees. The second evening we were taken out for a meal and throughout the program we had the chance to ask questions.
Not really except pro bono.
It is definitely worth doing if you are interested in the firm or a career in law.
