About You
I really enjoyed the entirety of the programme throughout the course of 3 days, it was extremely helpful and provided a useful insight into life at a city law firm.
I felt very valued and a part of the firm, this is mainly due to the hospitality that they provided.
The presentations and booklets gave us a high amount of guidance through the programme and the firm stuck to the schedule strictly. The workers supported us consistently throughout the programme.
The skills developed in the programme comprise: presentation skills, speaking skills and critical thinking. These are all beneficial for my degree course and will also help me on the path to becoming a solicitor.
The Company
The structure was of high caliber and the firm followed the structure given on the leaflet at all times. The sessions always linked with each other perfectly.
The general atmosphere was brilliant. My peers were all friendly and I hope to see them in the future. As to the team at DLA Piper, they made us feel comfortable at all times and made us feel valued.
A lot of partners and trainees at DLA Piper helped us through the programme, which means they stopped doing their work to come and give us guidance. In my opinion this is a very big investment as they are giving their time.
Some of the exercises included doing actual work that the firm does, such as closing a deal and doing research. The deal exercise in particular was very insightful.
The insight programme helped me understand how the firm operates and the type of people that work in the firm. Also where the priorities lie within the firm.
Personally this was very helpeful and inspired me more to strive towards working in a city law firm such as DLA Piper.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed my travel expenses and the firm provided accommodation.
There was numerous opportunities to network with employees throughout the 3 days. This included partners, trainees and future trainees.
The workers were very supportive and gave us plenty of guidance on how to secure a training contract/ vacation scheme. They were very polite and would answer all questions.
Yes, one of the future trainees told me about sporting opportunities within the firm. Also they told us about networking dinners.
I would definitely recommend this insight programme to a friend, in order for them to strengthen their skills and learn more about how a city law firm operates.
