About You
I really enjoyed the insight. It provided us with a lot of meaningful information and input about skills needed to be a good lawyer. In addition, we were told about how the industry works as a whole.
I felt very valued in my time in DLA Piper. Everyone made us feel very welcome and comfortable by giving us some really good quality food, tea, coffee, biscuits throughout the day. The accommodation was provided and we had a lot of social moments which were really valuable.
We received a lot of guidance from a range of trainees, associates, partners and members of the graduate recruitment team which was really helpful.
The skills I developed will definitely hemp me on a daily basis. For instance the employability skills developed will become quite useful when it comes to applying for vacation schemes.
The Company
The insight was well structured but it was a lot of information at the same time. The days were very long but it was helpful to have coffee breaks quite often.
The atmosphere was very friendly during the insight. Everyone was so nice to each other and there was no real feeling of competitiveness.
They invested a lot on us in terms of social life, food, drinks and accommodation. Also a lot of partners took the time to come see us which was really helpful.
It did help us to understand what happens on the whole but not in details.
We were provided with so much meaningful information about the firms culture. It was the key benefit of the insight.
It would have been better to have more information about the practical work undertaken by lawyers on a daily basis by doing some shadowing for example.
Everything Else
Since it was an insight programme for first year students,I do understand the reason why we were not paid since we have not done any real work.
there were a lot of networking opportunity which were really casual with trainees and partners.
There were a lot of networking and social opportunities with a wide range of employees of the firm. They were well organised and scheduled and very interesting in terms of input about the social dimension of working at DLA Piper.
We found out about a lot of opportunities such as Pro bono work which definitely was very interesting.
I would absolutely recommend this insight to my friends. It was so well organised and programmed and provided us with so much advice.
