The Role
Although it was hard work and relatively long hours, I felt very valued by the company and the work that I completed was worthwhile. Therefore this added to my level of enjoyment.
My colleagues helped out whenever I asked (even if I felt it was a stupid question!). They never pre-judged me just because I was an intern and I felt like the work that I contributed was worth while and useful to my colleagues.
Not only was I given support and guidance, when I asked management for further opportunities they were very happy to search them out for me and give them to me. This made my experience as a whole a lot better. Management made sure that my internship was well structured so that I was busy, but with the freedom to experience extra parts of the work too.
On the whole I was kept busy every day and always had tasks to do. If not...people very readily gave extra tasks to me if they knew I was free!
I was given a lot more responsibility than I thought I would be given on my placement. You learn extremely quickly on the job and if you ask for more responsibility it will normally be given to you. There were definitely times were I felt pushed by the level of responsibility that was given to me.
I learnt so much on this placement that will be useful for any future job that I have. Skills such as teamwork and talking to management, time management, making the most of opportunities and organisation will be extremely useful for many jobs.
The Company
People worked very hard whilst in the office. My placement involved working out of the office often too in smaller teams and this was usually very fun and more sociable.
The whole 8 weeks was extremely well organised. We were given a good (but testing!) induction which set us up well for the rest of the internship. I was given varied jobs over the 8 weeks, working on different tasks and with different teams which made my placement more enjoyable.
I felt that the company put a lot of time into me to train me to complete the jobs to a high standard as well as making lots of opportunities available to me to learn more about their company.

Company Parties/Events
After this placement, I know that KPMG will be a very good company to work for. They looked after each intern very well, were very efficient in their working style as well as having a good social atmosphere.
The Culture
There were social events organised for interns throughout the placement. In my office there were 5 interns and we often organised social events between us.
I lived at home during my placement. The cost of travelling to the office was expensive, but travel to other clients was paid for by the firm.
The office has a good social life including nightlife.
Whilst I was on my placement there were many opportunities outside of work. For example, there were sports matches that we could participate in, charity walks and community days.
