The Role
I really enjoyed working with the Walt Disney Company. It was an extremely valuable experience in terms of developing my professional and personal skills, in addition to making a great addition to my CV. The benefits of working with this company were fantastic, and I believe it really helped me develop my career.
I felt very valued by my colleagues. I got on extremely well with both other people doing internships and the normal staff. Everybody was very helpful during the training periods of the placement, and even afterwards if there were any problems. There was a focus on teamwork within the company, which was evident.
The management were always present to speak to if I had any problems or concerns, and my supervisors were also very friendly and helpful. As this placement was in a country away from home, I did need some support adjusting to the different culture surrounding work, but my supervisors were helpful with this.
I mostly was scheduled for early morning shifts within the restaurant that I worked in, and this involved serving breakfast to the hotel guests. This kept me very busy until lunch time, when there was some downtime. I was schedules 5 shifts a week, ranging between 5 and 8 hours. This was a good balance.
The company focusses a lot on team work, and building team work skills. All colleagues work together to achieve the targets set by managers and supervisors, regarding time management. My training only lasted a week before I was given the responsibility that all staff members are expected to carry out.
I learnt a great deal of skills during this placement which have helped me in my life beyond the internship. This includes time management and communication skills, in addition to more specific skills to the customer service/food and beverage industry. These skills all made great additions to my CV and I hope they will help me in my future career.
The Company
The internship was very well organised by the company. Housing was provided for international students, and transport was subsided for students to and from their work location, housing complex, local shops, and other local amenities. There was plenty of support provided if required, and it was easy to view the work rotas.

I would love to work for this company again in the future. I find the company values fit well with my own, and I found the experience very rewarding. I developed so many professional and personal skills, as well as making new friends for life through the social activities provided.
The Culture
There was a good sense of a community between all fellow placement students. The majority all lived within the same housing complexes and shared the subsided transport, so it was easy to meet new people who were sharing the same experience. The company put on many social events for everybody to get involved with.
The company did a good job at putting on social events and activities for placement students to get involved with outside of their working hours. These included colleague parties, trips to local shopping centres, trips to local theme parks, trips to the local beach, as well as frequent nights out arranged by other students to local bars.
