About You
The vacation scheme at Norton Rose Fulbright provided an invaluable learning experience, with an insight into the field of commercial law. The vacation scheme provided the opportunity to understand more about the culture at Norton Rose Fulbright and overall, I found it to be a very enjoyable and rewarding experience.
Throughout my time at Norton Rose Fulbright, I was treated as an equal and valued member of the team. My team could not have been friendlier and really took the time to understand me as an individual. They focused on my personal development and ensured that I had meaningful and worthwhile tasks to complete.
I always felt very well supported at Norton Rose Fulbright and the support network really was second to none. Upon arrival, I was appointed a trainee buddy, as well as a HR contact and line manager who guided me throughout the vacation scheme week. This system of support always meant I had someone to turn if I needed help.
This experience will undoubtedly aid me in my future career pursuits. I was given work that is similar to the tasks that trainees complete on a day to day basis and this was a great chance to get a flavour of the work I could be doing in the future. The skills that I have developed will undoubtedly benefit me should I be successful in obtaining a training contract.
The Company
The vacation scheme was extremely well structured and the graduate recruitment team ensured we gained a broad insight into the work and culture at Norton Rose Fulbright. There was a range of activities organised for us, ranging from networking sessions to skill development workshops. We also had the opportunity to hear from senior partners and associates.
I found there to be a really great atmosphere at Norton Rose Fulbright. Staff were friendly and supportive, ensuring we got the most out of the vacation scheme. Having the opportunity to attend team events and drink receptions was a great chance to see a different side of colleagues and everyone was very social.
I felt that Norton Rose Fulbright invested heavily into the vacation scheme, ensuring that we got the most out of the insight week. All of the activities organised were focused on our personal development and I felt that I developed a lot of new skills from this experience. My line manager was focused on my personal development and took the time to understand where my strengths and weakness lay, focusing on areas for improvement.
As I was treated as a valued member of team and given work that trainees would typically complete, I gained a real understanding of what it would be like to have a full time role at Norton Rose Fulbright. Furthermore, there were lots of opportunities to speak with staff and junior associates to understand what the working culture is like.
At Norton Rose Fulbright, they praise themselves on their unique culture that places support at the heart of it. The vacation scheme provided the opportunity to experience this working culture first hand and it is one that is truly unique in comparison to other law firms.
This vacation scheme solidified my intensions to pursue a career in the legal sector and confirmed my desire to focus on commercial law. Being given work that trainees would complete gave me a real understanding of what a career in commercial law entails and the opportunity to network with staff was invaluable in helping me make this decision.

I was paid for the duration of the vacation scheme.
There were numerous networking opportunities throughout this vacation scheme. We had a number of formal networking opportunities organised for us, where we had the opportunity to speak with senior partners and associates. In addition to this, we were encouraged to network individually and I set up a number of coffees with members of staff, who were more than happy to answer all my questions.
The social events were a great opportunity to get to know the other interns and the events ranged from an escape room experience to a cookery class (surprisingly very fun!). In addition to this, the networking session were also very enjoyable and Norton Rose Fulbright ensured we had interesting and relevant speakers at these sessions.
Yes, I found out about lots of different activities that employees can get involved in outside of work. There is a focus on maintaining a healthy work/life balance at Norton Rose Fulbright and there are various sport teams that employees can join. Furthermore, there are various employee networks to join, ranging from LGBT networks to female support groups.
