About You
The insight was interactive and packed day. The business speakers were entertaining to hear from, the trading excersises allowed get first hand experience of working in asset management and it was particularly good to have competitive spirit in the activity.
We were given numerous opportunities to ask any types of questions that we needed to ask and we’re also prompted to ask questions on things that weren’t particularly to do wth Finance and I certainly felt comfortable to ask any type of question.
The itinerary was particularly useful to navigate your way around the insight day, the insight pack was great information to have for ourselves and I believe the support provided was not too heavy or over whelming, however effective.
Even though I am studying Finance and Bonds, I believe the break down in explanation and concise delivery was helpful and was not a perspective I would have received at university in my lectures. So I can take away more information to further improve my studies!
The Company
The insight was very structured from application through to the end of the event, there was clear set schedule that was followed through and with the event being so long, the structure was consistent and followed through in a comfortable and friendly manner.
It was good atmosphere, I did not feel as though anybody was rude or inappropriate towards me and it was nice to have the staff and fellow students equally listening to each other and mutually respecting one another.
The personal training received was efficient and definitely confidence boosting. On the day I had the opportunity to participate in the speed networking event which helped me to understand that networking is not such a daunting activity to do. This allowed me to see the development in my own skills and go on to do further networking with less nerves. And there was also a mini workshops on video interviews and a clear how-to guide on video interviews and effective advice on taking well to doing a video interview.
It was very useful as we had insights from experienced professionals in those actual job roles and aswell gain insight from recent graduates in differing job roles and differing previous experiences to one another. All insights enabled us to have a brief insight into the “day in the life” of working full-time with the company and we were able to take part in detailed Q&A sessions.
The company culture was made clear and was proven throughout the event, the people working in the company were very friendly with each other and in a genuine format. It was good to see that was no difference in how the staff treat each other and how they treated us as first year students.
It was useful to see that the company both has options for students who know exactly what role they would look to do when working at the company and options for those who have not got such a clear idea for their career path. It has given me further information to consider when thinking about my career and there option to explore with the company.
Everything Else
The event did not to be paid for and I did not travel far. The event was only for one day therefore being paid and/or reimbursed was not a necessity for me personally and was not an expectation either.
Yes we took part in speed networking with various employees of the company. The employees ranged from being with company for longer years and those who were fairly new to the company. Every employee spoken to answered questions and enabled me to speak on interesting topics with them. The speed networking allowed for me to further connect with the employees that I met on LinkedIn.
The networking opportunities were clearly available through the speed networking. However, he networking was also very useful to gain more information.
When hearing from the business speakers, the speakers have information of their work to life balance and how they had interests outside of their work which provided them with activities outside of the working days. It was good to see that had activities that they are passionate about outside of work and that it is useful for us to have something else about us that is not to do with Finance.
I would definitely reccommend this event to a friend as it is a useful day that is not the usual and tedious day. Instead the day is jam packed with relevant tasks, events and opportunity to fully understand the differences in the roles within the company and gain insight from experienced and new employees of the company. I believe that is a very useful experience to add to your CV aswell.
