About You
I am on the Technology Spring Insight programme based at Glasgow. There were a lot of workshops and training. Information about the company and the industry was given in a comprehensive way. We were given a good platform to do hands-on group work and presentation to gain insight into the new things in the industry and those really excited me.
There were opportunities to ask questions and contribute to group works. Feedback was given on performance and every worker in Barclays is willing to help. In group presentation, everyone's voice is heard and given feedback upon. I was encouraged to get involved in discussions and answer questions, even if i may not have given the right answer.
I enjoyed the work shadowing sessions in which I talked with current workers in Barclays. Besides talking me through their daily life and the nature of the job in Barclays, they have given me a lot of suggestions as in how I could plan my next step during my undergraduate years in order to land in a good position.
Through the workshops, training, and work-shadowing, my understanding of the industry and the company is improved. The group presentation enhanced my communication and presentation skills as well. However, there was information given that is not so easy to understand. Coming from a Mathematics background, I feel some workshops are too technical and I struggled a bit to follow.
The Company
The insight programme was well-structured. We have ice-breakers on the first day. We had CV and interview workshops early to allow us time to make changes to it before the interview on the last day. There were work-shadowing sessions with workers in different positions on the second and the third day. In the middle of the week, we had senior panel session and networking.
The atmosphere is very friendly and interesting. We were given talks and workshops by interesting speakers. We are allowed to enjoy ourselves in hands-on activities and have regular discussions with the senior workers
Insights on different projects were given.
The work-shadowing session really helped.
We are given the opportunity to talk with different people in the company and ask them what they think about the company.
The insight programme increased my interest in the Tech division.
