Spring intern Review

I enjoyed the insight week as it was very insightful and filled with lots of information. We had work shadowing, a lecture of financial markets, lectures on what technology does in banking. We also had work shadowing sessions which gave us an opportunity to see real time experience and ask questions.

I felt valued as the staff members were friendly, they answered all my questions. Gave advice on how to succeed in the role and do well. I feel the company put a lot of money and effort into making this insight worthwhile and therefore I feel very valued by the company.

We received the appropriate amount of guidance and support, whether it was in answering questions or walking us to different buildings.We even received guidance on how to write a good cv, and we also received tips on how to conducts good interviews and how to answer interview questions using your CV.

We were given the opportunity to work in groups to plan a presentation, so I was able to approve my team working skills, communication skills and presenting skills which would be very useful at university when I need to work on various group projects and group presentations. The skills will also help me when I eventually decide to start working.

The insight was very well organised and structured. The time schedules for the various activities and events were well planned and thought out. We even had a trip to another city, and everything worked well. There were networking events, talks, and lunches that was given and provided at appropriate times.

The general atmosphere of the insight was professional but also fun and relaxing. The Human Resources team were very friendly, helpful and nice, The staff members from Barclays who came to talk to us seemed very knowledgeable and happy with their roles and they were very happy to ask any questions or concerns that we had.

We were given an advice workshops on CV and interview skills which I found very helpful and it shows that the firm was heavily invested in our training and development. This workshop was carried out by the human resource team but we were also able to ask for development advice from various staff members.

The insight really helped me understand what it would be like to have a full time role at Barclays. We were given information on how day to day activities would look like, what sort of projects one would would working on, how long projects usually last and even what time one is expected to go home.

The insight helped me understand the company culture. We were even given the full description of the company values and how to apply them. The various staff members spoke about how friendly their coworkers were, and how nice the general atmosphere of the bank was. From the apprentice role to the director role.

Very valuable, I always know I was going to work in either finance or technology. Barclays has helped me realise that I can work in both financial series and technology. There was so much information, and I believe that the job is very rewarding. So the content was very valuable in helping me make a decision.

We were told expenses ands travel expenses would be paid for. Also if you lived more than 1.5 hours away, good accommodation with breakfast and lunch was provided. When we travelled to Edinburgh our tickets were bought for us as well. The accommodation provided was very nice, clean and easily accessible to the insight location.

Yes we had varied networking events where we could ask full time staff about their roles, and even what they enjoyed the most about working with Barclays. We talked to different people from business analysts, project owners, developers, scrum masters and even managers. Everyone was very friendly and gave so much information about the role they are doing.

We had a networking dinner.
