The Role
Every week of my internship was different and I loved having the opportunity to work on so many different projects. The tasks I was given varied dramatically and I always felt challenged. The teams I worked with were bright, hardworking and fun. I genuinely looked forward to going to work each morning.
I feel my colleagues valued my work and I was always treated as part of the team.
My supervisors would often email me to check how things were going and ask if there were any specific areas I wanted to work in. Members of management took an interest in my development and offered lots of advice on career progression. I felt comfortable asking anyone anytime I had a problem or was seeking advice.
If you are prepared to get on with the work, you will be kept really busy with as many tasks as you ask for! But if you ever feel you've been given too much, colleagues are really supportive in sharing your load.
I was responsible for dealing directly with clients on every job I worked on. I was given sections of projects to complete on my own but with lots of guidance and support from others when I needed it.
The skills I developed included client interfacing, managing a number of tasks at once and experience in networking with others as well as obvious skills for interviews etc. It gave me a clear insight into where I want my career to take me.
The Company
The atmosphere was focussed but everyone got on well.
Very organised including a brilliant three day induction in birmingham and organised opportunities to spend time with recent graduate starters.
The company was prepared to accommodated me with any projects I particularly wanted work on and offered me a three week extension to my internship at my request.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
The firm offers great benefits and a great training program with fast promotion. The teams were great to work with, the work varied, and so I look forward to starting my graduate job with Deloitte.
The Culture
The recent graduate starters socialised frequently as a group and always invited the interns to get involved.
Cambridge is very expensive but I was aware of that from growing up there and there are cheap places if you know about them.
The clubs in Cambridge are very limited but it is still a great night out.
There were frequently events such as inter-dept football matches, rounders, treasure hunts for the interns, bowling, meals, 'away days' for the office and an event at Newmarket Races which was brilliant.
