About You
It was an enjoyable experience and I particularly liked the two shadowing sessions. One other main positive factor was the networking opportunities I had. In fact, I managed to talk with many members of staff and to gain a better insight of how it would be like to work for this company.
The different talks gave me the opportunity to learn new important information about the financial world and who is it probably going to change. The fact that the speakers were always willing to answer questions and to even have a chat one-to-one made me feel valued throughout the entire week programme.
I had a constant guidance during the course of the programme by the members of staff. At the same time though they were also quite flexible to allow us to manage our extra time as we preferred. That ended up being particularly useful during our visit to the Eagle labs in Edinburgh.
That was a very important experience for me since that it enabled me to get a better insight of the financial world. Therefore, this will probably help me to decide in which field to specialize during the following year of my degree course. Furthermore, I had also the opportunity to learn more about API and big data.
The Company
The insight was really well structured, and I really appreciated that it was composed of many different activities. My favourite activity were the two work shadowing sessions in the office and I also particularly enjoyed the visit to Edinburgh ( also because I had never had the opportunity to visit this city before).
There was a positive atmosphere and I had the opportunity to meet many other students from different universities and different studies backgrounds. I found this really enjoyable because it gave me the chance to widen my horizon concerning the possible opportunities that this company is able to offer me for my future career.
I had been offered to join two work shadowing sessions. One with a Business Analyst and one with a Developer. I really appreciated that I had been assigned to two workers in two different areas. That has been very useful for me because it enabled me to get a better insight into two different work areas.
It made me everything more clear, especially thanks to the two shadowing sessions during which I had the opportunity to talk with these two workers about their daily working routine and also what kind of task is usually assigned to their specific roles. I would therefore definitely consider working for this company in the future.
Before the spring week, I didn't really know much about how it could have been like working for this company. Now I have a way better understanding of it especially thanks to the many talks I attended to and also the networking opportunity I had with many Barclay's employers. I embraced the culture of this company and their objectives.
Extremely valuable because I didn't have any experience at all about how it would be like to work in a finance environment. Now I would definitely consider myself I work in an environment like that and for this company in particular. I, therefore, decided to apply for a summer internship for Barclays.
Everything Else
I will get reimbursed for my travel expenses and I also got other £250 at the completion of the programme. Furthermore, the company also paid for my accommodation and for most of the meals during the course of the programme. They finally also paid the train tickets to go and come back from Edinburgh.

I would definitely recommend this experience to a friend. Especially because it can certainly be considered a great opportunity to take before graduating to get a better insight of how it would be like to work in this kind of environment for such important financial institution such as Barclays is.
