About You
I found the insight week a very knowledgeable experience in which I learned a lot about technology in the banking industry. I have enjoyed networking with employees and finding out about their positive experiences
I felt very vauled. Every point or question I had was dealt with quickly and efficiently. I felt that everyone, from interns to the staff, all managed to have a good relationship. I felt like we were in some sense part of a family.
We were supported through the week. We were always made to feel that we could ask any questions we had. I watched [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] help and solve any issues students had very well. She was always approachable and easy to talk to.
I feel that we were given an insight into many different departments and projects they do at Barclays. This is useful as it allowed me to further research the ones I was most interested by. The workshadowing session was very beneficial as it showed me the different software and programming language they use so that I can further research it myself once the week finishes
The Company
Very well. We were always busy - from Tuesday first thing straight through to Friday afternoon. We always had some interesting thing happening. This meant we were always learning. They gave us tea breaks regularly so we stayed focused.
Everyone was friendly, approachable and it was beneficial to be able to discuss things with other students. We are all clearly passionate for technology and the banking industry so we all learnt from each other.
They listened to us and were interested with what we had to say. I feel this made us feel valued. They also trusted us to do our own project work and gave us time to think and research for ourselves.
Significantly. As the workshadowing sessions allowed me to see what business analysts do day to day. Even just being in the office showed me the different roles everyone plays
Extremely helpful. Barclays has a strong company culture. All through the week we were told about the company’s 5 core values, respect, integrity, purpose, service, excellence and stewardship. And the purpose - help people to achieve their ambitions in the right way.
I feel as I workshadowed people from different roles it was beneficial as I preferred the BA role, so this was useful for me to find this out now rather than later.
Everything Else
Plenty! Networking nights and panel discussions. We had many opportunities to ask questions
Perfect, organised very well
Barclays believe that you have work life and social life. They want employees to have hobbies and interests outside work
Absolutely! I feel everyone enjoyed themselves on this spring week. You can learn a lot and have fun too - what more could you want!!
