About You
It was great to meet other students with a common passion and interest in the financial sector, and network with analysts all the way through to VPs. It has been a really fun whilst informative week.
From the start of the Spring Week it was stressed how great it was that we were a part of Barclays; working on case studies and shadowing also gave us a great insight to the daily work that employees carry out at the firm.
All employees were hugely welcoming and were always present to answer any queries that we had. I immediately felt a part of the workforce.
Developed teamwork and communication through networking which will be beneficial in any coursework at university. Also improved researching and analytical skills through studying for the Presentation topic, which will aid any essays that I have to complete for my degree.
The Company
Structure was brilliant; the days flew by due to the range of activities that we had.
Everyone was really positive; from employees to fellow interns, which made the experience really enjoyable.
Barclays is really supportive in training and development opportunities, which we were exposed to. Barclays invests heavily into future talent.
It hugely helped me to understand the life at Barclays; work shadowing was an invaluable opportunity and highlighted the demanding yet rewarding nature of working at an Investment Bank.
Being a part of the culture gave a valuable insight into the company culture as a whole, which was open, friendly and supportive.
Extremely valuable- the depth of insights that we had throughout Banking and Markets helped me determine which area I am most interested in and will pursue in the future.
Everything Else
We were provided with accommodation very close to the office and on top of this, were given a travel allowance which was plenty.
The days were full of opportunities to network, from lunches to evening drinks with a range of employees throughout the firm.
They were fantastic; really well organised, and enabled you to speak to a variety of different professionals; from analysts, other interns, to VPs. Hearing from different people gave a real insight into life at the firm and their roles.
The focus was more on the roles of the employees at Barclays. However, the range of networks that they have became evident throughout talking to different employees and a panel session based on diversity.
Yes; it is an invaluable opportunity that can consolidate or begin your understanding of the financial sector and IB specifically.
