About You
The insight program taking place in April was absolutely amazing. The remarkable experience began as early as I enter the building. I was welcomed with warmth and precise instructions. I found it amazing how it goes against the public perception of a bank, which is serious and dull, but that’s not actually true.
I feel extremely valued. As it was a small class of individuals selected from thousands of applicants, each of us had an abundant amount of exposure with recruiters and analysts. The employed at UBS were all very eager to answer my questions in meticulous detail and actively encourage questions as well.
The guidance was invaluable. On day one we received a detailed timetable of what we will expect during the week. The interactive workshops that they implemented were very clear in terms of what they expect of us. It is definitely a fantastic two way process of learning and understanding. Overall, the guidance was really good.
Through the mock case studies and the several workshops that I participated in, I received invaluable feedback on how I should improve both from my intern colleagues and the associates and analysts hosting the workshops. I improved my leadership skills, team work, communication skills as well as increased my overall commercial awareness.
The Company
It was very structured. The recruiters made sure that the sessions started and ended on time and there was not a single session that was boring or dull. Time was very well and appropriately allocated to each session. There is a perfect balance between listening to the divisional presentations and actually doing hands-on exercises and immediately applying what we just learned.
The atmosphere as mentioned before was very friendly and every candidate was treated with care and warmth. The atmosphere between the candidates is also friendly. Although there were competitions, the competent nature of other candidates was positive and not in anyway undermining. All in all, it was absolutely one of the most amazing experience I had so far.
The company cared much and me and the other candidates. We were all treated equally and received a huge amount of training and guidance in presentation and the many workshops hosted throughout the week. I grew exponentially both personally and professionally and I can definitely utilize the skills I learned here in all my future projects.
This program gave an incredibly detailed insight into the work and culture at UBS, not only from the mouths of employees at UBS, but we also had a tour to the lecture rooms, gym, canteen, as well as breakout areas. Overall, these activities gave me a good understanding of how it is like to work at UBS full time.
It was extremely insightful in terms of revealing the culture. I felt like it really did give me a comprehensive view of how it is like to work at UBS at my preferred division, technology. The employees were very truthful in terms of explaining how their office environment is like.
My future career path is definitely in technology. This insight program has further confirmed my passion in technology. The various workshops and talk by senior leadership in technology has shown how it is really like to work in technology and explained in detail why type of work will I work on daily.
Everything Else
Yes I am reimbursed my travel expenses and there were free lunch meals throughout the week. However, I wasn’t paid, but I don’t think it is too much of an issue for the worth and value we get out of the spring week. I strongly recommend this insight program to everyone who wants to get into banking.
There were tons of opportunities to network with employees from major divisions of the bank ranging from wealth management, asset management, HR, group technology as well as Operations. The networking opportunities were extremely valuable in terms of building my professional network. There was also a networking session at the last day.
The networking opportunities were invaluable in terms of building my professional network and increasing my interpersonal skills. There were countless networking opportunities and I took full advantage of each and every one of them. I cannot emphasize how useful the networking opportunities were throughout the insight program and I recommend everyone to take full advantage of it.
Yes absolutely, we were took on a tour to the canteen areas, gym, breakout areas and lecture rooms. The employees were given excellent health benefits and had excellent work life balance. There is also a very attractive pension scheme. All in all, I believe there is excellent work life balance at the bank.
I strongly recommend the insight program to anyone who wishes to join the banking industry. There were tons of networking opportunities and even more opportunities to get hands on experience on how it is like to work across different divisions at the bank. At the end of the insight program, you will have a great understanding of where your passion lies.
