About You
It was an amazing experience for me, I got to meet workers from all the divisions and ranks and widen my network with mind alike students.
It was surprising to see how valued they make you feel. Even though you are there for only four days you have the opportunity to talk to senior bankers directly and everyone would take time of their busy schedule to help you with every question you might have.
Barclays helped me with every single detail, they planned everything ahead so that we didn't have to worry about anything by the time we get there.
When I arrived to Barclays I was unsure of the path I wanted to take for my future career. After the four days of learning every division in the bank I found out what I wanted to focus my career on.
The Company
It was very well organized, the first day was more of an icebreaker, the second we had the whole day about markets, the third was banking and on the last day we had the chance to have a debate within groups.
The atmosphere was amazing. The people there have very different backgrounds so you'll have the opportunity of meeting incredible people with very different ways of thinking.
You can see from the first day that Barclays is very interested in training you. Even if you are still in university you have the chance to talk with people with a very high position. An experience that would impossible outside this program.
You have two days of work shadowing so can talk individually to a worker that will show you how is their daily life.
They made sure to show us their values with diversity talks and you could see their values reflected in their workers.
It helped me to realize what I want to become in a future.
Everything Else
Barclays will reimburse you with the expenses you may have when going to the office from another city or country and they pay you for any inconvenience you might have in the four days.
Every day you had the opportunity of meeting many employees in the firm who were very approachable and happy to keep in touch with you. For example, the first day I met an analyst who was more than happy to join me for a coffee the last day and answer every question I could have
The first day you have two hours only for networking with bankers and fellow colleagues. But every day there is an opportunity to meet new people.
With a four day program there is not that much time to see how the life of the bankers is outside work.
It was an incredible experience and I think everyone who is thinking about working in a bank should go because even in the short time it can make a huge impact.
