The Role
The internship gave me a real insight into the industry and I was made to feel very welcome so I enjoyed my time at KPMG.
My colleagues were very friendly and made me feel extremely welcome. I was given important tasks and was always thanked for my help.
I recieved some guidance and support from my management. I was encouraged to be independent in finding more work.
Often the tasks were quite small and didn't take too long, this sometimes left me bored. Later on in the internship I was given longer tasks with less certain finish points. This kept me busier.
It was hard for me to gain real responsibility on a day to day basis as I had no prior knowledge of tax. At certain points I was given some responsibility and some of my work was presented to the office partner.
I learned valuable office skills and the insight was very useful.
The Company
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
I am still awaiting an interview but I am also pursuing other options
The Culture
I was the only intern in my department. However I was able to meet others on the induction and on a CSR day.
St Albans has a number of good restaurants and pubs that are not too expensive
There was some although I was living at home so I didn't really experience it.
CSR days were about as much as I was offered outside of work. If I had been there longer then potentially I could have got involved in things like football teams.
