About You
Really varied programme, enabled me to understand several aspects of careers in technology at EY. Got me considering career/service lines I wouldn’t have normally considered. Reassured me that no matter what degree background you have, if you’re interested in technology you’re suited to the job (no technical knowledge needed for all roles)
We were well looked after during the process, good food etc. The mini golf social was great fun. They clearly put a lot of effort into making us feel welcome and ensuring we were comfortable.
Received information about how to do well at the assessment centre and how to pick the right service line for us. Did not feel there was enough time to network - ratio of students: EY professionals wasn’t great. Mini golf tried to create a less intimidating atmosphere but it didn’t work well for networking at all (too loud, too dark!)
Really appreciated the detail they went into for finding our strengths and developing them - I think this will help me greatly in my degree. Taking the advice from the panel session, their top tips for success will give me something to aim/strive for
The Company
Clear programme of activities with a lot of variation. Covered a lot of material. Thought the Technology display was great!!
Friendly team, encouraged lots of networking and a relaxed atmosphere. Quite male dominated (for the digital disruption event) would’ve been better to get a more equal mix of men and women
The sessions on how to do well at interview/assessment centres were great. Difficult to say how much they invested in us as the programme was really short (only two days)
It helped me understand the vast range of capacities in which they work. But the employees present and presentations left a very big focus on financial services, less so on UKI advisory. We weren’t given much insight into what the day to day role entails in some of the less traditional service lines such as EYX - this would have been useful
Somewhat. 2 days is too short to understand company culture. While we got an appreciation of what values their employees like the most about the company and what influences their choice to join and stay at EY, I don’t think we were given enough of an opportunity to speak to people from different service lines.
Definitely helped me realise that I want a career in technology. I’m now aware of the opportunities available to me and what I would want to apply for, and equally what isn’t really for me.
Everything Else
Reimbursed travel expenses. Those living far away were given overnight accommodation
Lots of potential opportunities but I don’t think they worked well. Able to network during lunch and breaks and during the evening social
The opportunities to network were many but there weren’t enough EY professionals from a diverse enough range of service lines available to network. I think 100 students is too many and it definitely compromised the quality of networking opportunities. Crazy golf was not the best place to network (it was fun though)
Not really. Some employees mentioned some of the extra opportunities they do. The most detailed information we got was about the learning weekend for ACPs. Would have been nice to know more about this
Yes it’s useful if you want to know more about the types of careers available in technology. Not so useful if you’re already aware of this.
