About You
The Discover EY - Digital Disruption Insight Programme was a great opportunity to explore the different service lines in EY related to technology. The presentations and panel events with EY staff were informative, and the hackathon was an engaging experience. Overall, the two days were hugely enjoyable and has enabled me to make a more informed choice about my future career.
It was clear that EY did the best it could to make students feel valued at the event. Staff from all service lines and levels we present to engage students and answer their questions. We were given the opportunity to pitch our ideas to [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions], Chief Innovation Officer at EY during the Hackathon, which made our ideas seem valued.
EY staff were constantly on hand to answer our questions and give us guidance, especially during the hackathon. They facilitate the process deftly and went to great lengths to ensure all students were involved in the ideation process during the hackathon. My group was also given personal feedback by the EY staff attached to us after the hackathon.
While the career information and problem solving skills gained during the presentations and hackathon were not entirely relevant to my degree programme, I believe they are indeed highly relevant to my future career, both in enabling me to make a more informed career choice as well as equipping me with the collaborative skills and confidence necessary in my extra-curricular activities.
The Company
The Insight was well-structured, with presentations occurring mostly on the first day and a more interactive session through the hackathon and quiz on the second day. Time was spent efficiently and the programme proceeded smoothly without a hitch. The joining instructions provided a detailed overview of the programme and students were well informed.
The atsmophere of the Insight was rather relaxed and casual as this event was more of an insight into EY’s different service lines related to technology rather than an actual internship experience. The participants were interested and engaged and it was refreshing to attend this programme alongside other talented students.
Since this was only a two day event, there was not a lot of time for the company to properly invest in developing our skills and potential. That being said, the hackathon was useful in realising my strengths and weaknesses and the assessment centre brief provoked thought on my individual strengths.
Through the panel events and extensive networking sessions with staff from all service lines and levels, I was provided into an immersive insight into life at EY and what a career in technology at EY would be like. I have been inspired to think more about how technologies disrupt businesses and EY’s role in this.
As mentioned earlier, the networking sessions with EY staff helped provoke greater thought on my future career, especially one at EY’s technology practice. The presentations were extensive and immersive and gave me a better understanding of how my future career could involve technology. I am now better equipped to make a more informed career choice.
Everything Else
There were networking opportunities throughout both days, during the lunch breaks and the social event on the evening of the first day. The social event was held at Junkyard Golf Club and provided a great atmosphere for getting to know EY staff personally. Free food and drinks were also provided.
