About You
Discover EY - Digital Disruption Very interesting two-day event with varied activities! I learnt a lot about the different service lines. There were various people talking about their work at EY, including [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions], EY’s CIO who gave a talk with Q&A and was the judge in one of our activities.
One word to describe EY’s approach - Inclusive. They did all they can to keep us well-fed and watered throughout the event and it was great. The first day was a long series of presentations which became dull and dry after a while. I feel that my time could’ve been used better with hands-on activities or even games to describe their service lines. Otherwise, the EY personnel were very approachable and friendly, sometimes even made me mistakenly identify them as another candidate!
There were people on the ground at every activities during the two days, giving us guidance and advice for the different topics at hand. They even went to the extent of proactively approaching me for advice!
I’m studying Materials Science so the knowledge I acquired are not directly applicable to what I’m studying. However, I value the soft skills more than anything else, such as ways to brainstorm (Thanks EYX for essentially giving us a free trial of your brainstorming product!) and network with people.
The Company
The whole two-days were action-packed and well- structured, which is impressive given that they only had two days to showcase a lot of stuff to us.
Pretty exciting and at times energetic. The first day was a real downer though; some people I talked to even confessed to sleeping during some of the presentations! EY truly redemmed itself during the second day, giving us a 3-hour ideation session which was the peak of the event.
In time-scale, they did this really well 50% of the time. The first day was really dry with no tangible skills to learn from. The second day was full of skills development, teamwork and pitching skills. I think the CIO’s involvement in the event is a testament of their investment in our career development.
Yes but only through panel talks and talking to their people. We didn’t really have the opportunity to shadow or even see their office (they rented a venue for the event, with pros and cons).
The event itself is a representation of their committment to my career development at EY, so I guess that speaks for itself.
Very valuable. Explaining it will not do it justice. Come and apply to find out (not endorsed or paid to do this I swear).
Everything Else
Transport and accommodation is paid for, subject to conditions (like everything in life).
There were a lot of opportunities for networking. Practically every break, lunch or dinner is one. There’s no dedicated time for it though, which is a good thing since the occassion were organic. The social was a giant but flawed networking session, just because the music was loud and the space was cramped. I met loads of EY people over there, with varied experiences.
As said before, the people were great and approachable. They were willing to help and even consult with you on certain matters. They made it obvious who is who by the name tag, which was good. The people there were also from various different service lines, which is perfect when I didn’t have a clue which division does what.
Not really, only through personal testimony.
Definitely. Go and apply! They will fast-track your internship application.
