About You
It was a very interesting insight into how developing technologies are helping and disrupting the current market. It was good to see how EY themselves are using technology to their advantage. There were some fun activities and a useful session on recruitment. Some of the talks were a little long but most were helpful.
Everyone was very welcoming, there were several members of EY staff and they were always willing to talk about their experiences at EY including their recruitment process and give guidance on what we might be interested in. It was not intimidating at all and everyone was very friendly. The food provided was also excellent.
Lots of guidance given about recruitment and what to expect if we were successful in getting accepted onto the grad scheme. Also lots of tips were given during the group presentation. Some of the presenters didn't impart as much knowledge as I had hoped about their service line so I'm not totally sure what some people's jobs really were.
The recruitment skills in particular were very useful and will be applicable whenever job applications or any other applications come up. The information received about the current digital climate and market trends were an excellent insight into how the business is run today and will lend itself to how things will develop in the future.
The Company
The timetable was very full and very structured with sufficient break times for lunch and tea. However I feel like the order of some of the talks could have been better in terms of interest levels and alertness levels after eating and breaks. Overall it was very good but perhaps a bit more group discussion and involvement was needed.
It was mostly very fun especially during the big group exercise and presentations to each other. There was sufficient times for networking during the breaks too which was enjoyable. Some of the presentations were very fun, especially the technology demonstrations with mixed reality. Some of the presentations were a bit dull though and could perhaps been livened up through different styles of presentation.
As this was an insight programme I do not think there was a huge amount of personal investment in me. I gained some useful information and tips about applying but at this stage I don't think EY are looking to invest in people specifically. It was a good networking opportunity.
I got a good insight into their graduate scheme and the jobs involved with that and after speaking with various people I got some experience in what they do on a day to day basis. However I feel like it was very financial services based and there wasn't much about the other industries EY works with.
After the Question and Answer panel, I got a good insight into the company culture. Everyone who was around was very positive about that and it seems like a good place to work.
It will probably help me decide which service line to apply for but I am still unsure about working in the financial industry.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed for meals and travel. The food was very good.
Yes, there were quite a few EY employees around including an evening social so it was easy to network with lots of people.
I was unable to attend the evening networking event due to prior commitments.
Not particularly, there was one question about that during the Q&A.
Yes I would, it's an interesting insight into a very new and upcoming area of the financial industry.
