About You
The EY digital disruption programme was a fairly enjoyable experience although it suffered largely due to it only being two days. It would have also been a better experience if the programme was hosted in EY office as that would have allowed us to gain a better insight of the work environment at EY.
There were definitely a lot of free goodies/foods/prizes that EY provided to make you feel valued. However as said before I think that if the event was hosted at EY offices it would make us feel more valued. But the talks and panels across the two days did show EY's dedication to finding new talent along with the social event at junkyard golf was fun as well.
The last talk discussing next steps in regards to recruitment was quite clear and concise. However I do feel that more opportunities for networking could have been presented as it was quite difficult to find the opportunity to talk to employees one to one. The junkyard golf social although a fun location was difficult to communicate to anyone due to the loud music and the whole golf activity.
I think the hackathon was very useful in honing my skills in terms of teamwork and problem solving. Other than that interaction most of the insight was more listening to talks and understanding EY and their service lines and not necessarily in developing skills. The information was abundant and although interesting it was still hard to grasp all the various divisions at EY.
The Company
The overall structure of the insight was decent as it was all situated in one room it was difficult for it to go wrong in terms of locations. I think the social event could have been better structured. Furthermore the second day was much more interactive than the first one, it would have been a lot more effective if the interactive activities were more spaced out across the two days.
The general atmosphere was quite friendly, there was not a lot of interaction between other interns other than short lunch n refreshment breaks. In terms of speakers most were very passionate in what they were doing and it definitely showed. The first day did contain too many talks and could have had more varied activities. A tour of EY offices or some form of work shadowing would be a lot more informative rather than simply telling us information in a lecture style.
As it was only a two day programme I don't think EY invested too much in terms of training it was more on the basis of understanding EY and its service lines. However the hackathon was quite informative and fun as it was one of the only largely interactive session.
It definitely gave a good insight of the work culture at EY and the different service lines. However as aforementioned opportunities to perhaps shadow graduates or to have one on one networking opportunities would have been better to have a full understanding of what work would be like at EY.
All employees mentioned how they enjoyed the work environment and people at EY although it would have helped if they gave a more personal response. But all in all it did give a fairly good understanding of life at EY.
It showed certain aspects of jobs at EY but as mentioned before the exact divisions that you could apply to was a bit confusing.
Everything Else
Yes as mentioned before there was a social networking event but as the location was quite loud and dark it was difficult to truly talk to any employees or even find them. It would have been beneficial to have other events perhaps over lunch where you could have a proper conversation with employees.
This question was answered previously. But to add on it,i think there could be better social events but given how short the programme was it was difficult to get to know fellow interns. Perhaps during breakfast and lunch there could be added networking opportunities.
Employees briefly talked about other societies but there was not a large emphasis on this.
Yes if they are interested in EY and technology specifically. The programme does give a good overview of what a career at EY brings however it is not a programme for you to necessarily practice skills or receive training as it is simply an insight day. Also all the free food and goodies is definitely a plus.
