    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The programme was overall very enjoyable and worthwhile. It was filled with a very full schedule of lectures, group projects, and networking events. It was a two-day programme, the first day consisted of lots of talks about the different areas of technology that you can work in within EY. During the second day, we spent the morning doing a group project about disruption and the programme ended with a talk about how to apply for a summer role.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt extremely valued by the employees at EY. Overall, EY has a very inclusive and welcoming culture, which I feel really makes it stand out. We had a networking event at the end of the first day which was really enjoyable and it proved a good opportunity to get to know some of the employees at EY and the experience at the firm

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Overall, there was a good amount of support, everyone working for EY were very happy to answer any questions you had. Also, a lot of the employees gave us their email addresses so that if we had anymore questions we could contact them. As previously mentioned the talk about the next steps with regards to the summer internship was very helpful and informative.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Coming from a non finance/technology degree the skills I learnt didn’t specifically help me with my degree. However, the skills we began to develop such as teamwork and problem solving will definitely be helpful when it comes to applying to more permanent roles such as summer internships or graduate schemes

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The programme was reasonably well structured. Before the event, we were sent a copy of the timetable so we could see what the week consisted of. My only criticism was that due to the fact it was only a two-day course both days were very jam packed and at moments you felt slightly overwhelmed with information.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere at EY was very welcoming. The members of EY were very happy to chat with you about their jobs and what they like and dislike about the firm. Furthermore, all the other interns were very friendly and it was nice to meet such a diverse group of people who are all interested in technology.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I wouldn't say EY hugely invested in us over the programme, it was mainly about us getting to know EY a bit more and to learn more about the opportunities available within the firm. However, one of the big advantages of doing the course was that we were able to be fast-tracked to the assessment centre for the summer internship and therefore get ahead of everyone else who can only begin applying in the autumn

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Given the vast opportunities during the week to speak to employees at EY, you were able to learn a lot more about what it would be like to work at the firm. On the second day, there was a panel of employees from EY from multiple different service lines and this was particularly helpful in understanding what it would be like to have a full-time role at EY

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The culture at EY is something they like to emphasise (and for good reason). They made it clear that they are very focused on teamwork, openness and friendliness. It definitely came across when actually speaking to members of EY that they like the culture at EY and that they all buy into it.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I definitely now understand a lot more about the different roles offered by EY and how they all fit together. Also, I have learnt much more about the culture of EY and whether employees enjoy working there. It is, however, quite hard to decide your future career path based off 2 days of talks, so definitely more research is needed

    4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • All travel was pre-paid for via an external firm that EY uses. The accommodation was booked and paid for by the organisation’s recruitment team. Breakfast and lunch were provided on both days and on the first day we got dinner at the networking event (There was no dinner on the second day as we finished quite early).

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There was one networking event at the end of the first day at which about 15 members of EY were present, so this was a really good opportunity to meet employees. Furthermore, throughout the day there were numerous employees giving talks or helping us with our projects that we were able to network with.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking event at the end of the first day was really good fun and a great way to get to know the employees on a more informal basis.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Given it was such a short programme, there was much chance to learn about activities outside of work. However, from speaking to employees you can get a sense of the work-life balance and what opportunities are available outside the office.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would highly recommend this event to a friend. EY’s programme is very informative and interactive and moreover, it is a great way to meet other like-minded individuals whether they be other interns or employees at EY. Furthermore, it is a really useful programme if you want to go and do a summer internship as it will really set you apart from the other applicants.
