About You
Definitely a positive insight onto the company and the industry. Perhaps I should have done more reading on the industry as the terminology used was often too complex for my understanding and so perhaps more research on my behalf was required. I Definitely think more interaction on day 1 was required.
Since we were given gift bags and lots of food and transport was covered by EY, they definitely took great care of us. Very grateful for this. The social also showed they valued us by providing us with entertainment which was a good atmosphere to meet and talk to curreent EY employees.
When questions were asked they were answered quickly and well. Definitely helped and benefitted from this and improved the general experience. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions], our EY technology promoter was helpful in guiding us to considering aspects that may have effected our solution to healthcare. He also helped us plan and prepare our pitch to the judges.
I'm not sure if I learnt any skills as such perhaps, rather a practice of soft skills and communication and more of knowledge workshop, where I was provided lots of knowledge and information very quickly and not so much skills. Perhaps more of an actual understanding of the technology fundamentals would have helped and improved understanding of the technologies used at EY. I would know the names but I don't think I'd be able to explain all of them to a new person for example.
The Company
Tuesday was very insightful, the hackathon was good because it almost let us be like EY consultants by being given a problem and looking to solve it. This was a lot of fun and engaging. Also the panel q and a aided the social in finding out how EY works as a company and the importance of people relations. However, day 1 needed more interaction and engagement. I felt it was too much information being thrown at me at once. I'm only speaking for myself so I do not know the Consensus' opinion.
Good atmosphere, rather professional and a good introduction to what it's like to work in the corporate world. The EY staff here that ran the event have been fantastic and really helpful giving insight into the application process and they also helped with transport and other aspects of the programme.
I don't know what they've invested in me to be honest. I think the program has helped me improve my soft skills and develop personal communication skills. But In terms of technical knowledge I have not learnt much. But it's invested in me by providing knowledge on the mechanics of EY and how it works.
Definitely helped with understanding this. Also at the social the EY manager I spoke to explained the hierarchy at EY, which helped me understand who works for who and the different divisions. The wide variety of divisions has definitely meant I will consider applying for internships and other programmes to find out more about FSO And UKI
This definitely helped. The social helped me to understand the atmosphere and ethos of EY a work hard and play hard philosophy. Further to this the panel q and a helped describe the scenario at EY and the way employees are. It also explained the communication within the company. This was crucial to understanding their ethos.
Definitely made my choice harder!! Initially after day 1 I didn't think I'd be interested in EY and financial services but the social and the hackathon helped to mimic how EY works as a company and what it's really like to be a consultant. It means I will definitely consider further insight programmes or internships to learn more about this.
Everything Else
Yes there were 2 opportunities. The social in shoreditch allowed us to network with EY employees and ask them questions about the company and the financial services industry. Also questions on what living in london is like were asked. Also the panel q and A allowed us to find out more about people's experiences at EY and before they started working st EY.
A little bit of information was provided. One of the employees said a squash team was available and networking and team events do occur throughout the year. There is scope to travel as well.
No i found this on the website rate my placement and googling around for placements at Financial service companies.
