About You
The event was a great insight into EY. All of the content was really interesting but the entire first day was talks so I would prefer it to be a bit more interactive. There was a hackathon on the second day which was a great experience.
I got to speak to lots of people who work for EY at all different levels and I felt that they were genuinely interested in what I had to say.
On the first day we had someone who worked for EY sitting with us during talks however they didn't engage much with the group. On the second day my group worked with [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] and she was fantastic. She was very engaging and provided a slightly different perspective to our hackathon activity.
My degree is Mechanical Engineering and a lot of the information given to me was very financial/business related so it won't necessarily help in my course. This was still of interest to me even though it doesn't relate to my degree directly. However I received some great advice about recruitment at EY and how a career there could be.
The Company
The insight was structured well with many different activities planned. There was plenty of time for breaks with food provided.
The event was professional but relaxed. The EY staff presenting were not intimidating and made me feel comfortable.
For a two day insight the information provided was so helpful. I was given a presentation on next steps for recruitment at EY and this is invaluable.
There was a lot of time spent doing Q&A with EY staff from a lot of different departments. They were happy to answer lots of questions from the students. There was also a social which was a great opportunity to network in a more laid back atmosphere.
The company culture was discussed by almost everyone we encountered and it has encouraged me to seriously consider working for EY in the future.
I have heard from interns, graduates, partners and others in varying positions. We were given a very in depth overview of different service lines we could go into working for EY and what these jobs would involve.
Everything Else
My travel to London and two nights accommodation were all paid for by EY.
During breaks we were welcome to ask questions to EY staff and also speak to other students at the insight.
The social was another opportunity to get to know staff and what their job was like. This was great as I could ask a lot of questions about topics we had heard about throughout the day.
This was briefly mentioned in question and answer sessions. Employees mentioned sports teams and social nights.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my two days with EY. All of the staff were lovely and were keen to answer any questions that we had. There was a variety of activity all of which was useful in one way or another. It was a great opportunity to meet a lot of students from different academic backgrounds.
