The Role
Found the internship very interesting as although I worked only in the audit department I was able to work on audits of a variety of companies and at different stages of the audit process. I was given a variety of tasks to complete and in the majority of the cases my work contributed directly into the audit file.
Whilst working in the audit department I was continually given positive feedback about my performance and the standard of my work. This feedback came from newly recruited graduates right up to partner level. It was really good to know that my work had been reviewed by very senior members of staff and that my contribution was valuable.
Each intern was matched with a 'buddy' to support them throughout the scheme. My buddy was really supportive and was able to resolve any issues I had. Alongside this several managers ensured the scheme ran smoothly and the interns were really getting involved with the audit work.
I found my days to be very busy. The work I was given required me to speak to various members of staff with deadlines to report back to management. However, the work was interesting therefore I didn't mind being busy!
The work I completed directly contributed to the audit process. My work was reviewed by senior members of staff and any issues raised would be sent back for me to complete. I was given whole sections to complete which would require direct interaction with clients.
Through direct exposure to the audit process and clients I believe I have developed my interpersonal skills. Due to being given sole responsibility of specific sections this has improved my organisational skills and time keeping.
The Company
Good atmosphere in the office with everyone in high spirits even when they were really busy. Never dull moment.
Internship ran smoothly, interns always knew where they should be and who to contact once they arrived on client site. Good interaction between managers and interns to ensure everything was ok.
Deloitte provided me with a real insight into the work they undertake and a greater understanding of the professional qualification I would be studying for if I was to join them.

Upon completing of my internship I have been offered a graduate job with Deloitte which I have now accepted.
The Culture
Really good social within the office. Regular events such as football, the Deloitte Summer Ball, meals out.
Socialising in the area was not expensive, Deloitte events were often subsidised.
Good nightlife which everyone was keen to enjoy.
Regularly invited to events after work such as football, laser quest, drinks evenings and even the chance to take part in a paralympic sport.
