About You
I thought it was very informative and I was able to look into this company as a whole while also seeing the inner workings present in the company. The company is so large however I never did feel like I was not needed in this place of work and found myself happy at the end of each day.
As there were so many people around me working every day I was taken aback by the amount of responsibility I was given to handle things. I was treated like another colleague and I did feel valued throughout this placement and while I was part of such a large group, I did feel like people did appreciate what I did
At the start of my placement, I was extremely overwhelmed by the number of new things I had yet to discover, however, thanks to the workers giving me as much advice and support as I needed I was able to complete my placement very happy and confident in myself that I was doing the right thing
I am able to take the experience of working in a real-life working environment and apply it to my studies as I can now see that the world will not stop for me and I have to keep pushing through. Some exercises did seem pointless and probably were however
The Company
I knew that they had done this before. I had been given a time table about what was happening then. However, halfway through the first week that was all irrelevant, i - at some times - didnt know what to do or where to go - could have been better
Hard working, people knew what they had to do and didn't bother anyone who was doing their job. You got the rare occurrence of a break where you would just sit and get to know the people around you, but when you began working again it was like a silent shelter
They did depend on me to do my job and did give me all of the necessary equipment I needed to be doing this, however, that was all they invested in me, the measly amount was given was laughable to some people and I spent that time wondering if i was equipped enough
This experience was amazing, to say the least, They did not hold back in treating me like any other member of staff and I was highly pleased with this and the research it gave me into this field of work, the staff treated me like an old member of the team and I felt no prejudice toward the fact that I wasn't
I was able to see what really happens behind the scenes of this company and look thoroughly into its policies and standards which are celebrated in the workplace. The great thing about this placement is the overwhelming amount of work that goes into everything it does and i was really proud for it
I honsestly think that it didnt affect my choice in future career very much, however, i was very set on what i wanted to do in the future and would have been very surprised if it did change my opinion at all. However, i may have quavered at one point in my placement
Everything Else
I was reimbursed for all of my expenses such as travelling to the company every day. For me it was ok that i did not get paid as the experience paid for itself in the long run and it was really good for me to see the workings of a company
For me personally, i did not see any opportunities to network which was really upsetting as i though there would be, in the grand scheme of things, you need networks to eventually get a job at a good company, and when i didnt get any networks i was quite sad, however the company itself was a network so at least thats somthing
There was no chance or opportunity to network and this leads me to distrust the structure of the placement and make me question its value to my future career - IF I EVEN GET ONE! the structure needs a renewal but only on the networking aspects, everything else was good,
Yes this was a very well handled informative part of the placement, i was able to see what people did in their spare time. I was even invited to come with my collegues on a night out which was very enthralling for me, as i was able to hear about the different projects going on
It depends on whether they go for the placements, if so - STEER CLEAR! - everything else however, was top notch and i would recomend this and if i could, i would probably do it again, i was able to look into an industry in which i can say i never really considered before
