About You
The Insight scheme was brilliant - it was really well organised, plenty of social and networking opportunities and the chance to take on some work from a trainee.
All the trainees were really friendly and approachable, and you didn't feel inferior / stupid asking them for help. Everyone was grateful for any work completed, and it was obvious that they were keen for us to do well.
By allocating a trainee-supervisr to you, you always had someone to ask. Even if they weren't on top form / were busy, there was always someone else.
This gave me a key insight into whether a training contract is suited for me.
The Company
Good amount of time in our departments, opportunities to network with each other and other members of the firm. The work-social balance was perfect.
Genuinely was very surprised to have been greeted with such friendly people - nothing like I expected a city law firm to be like!
The firm made sure to tell us how they work with trainees to become the best solicitors that they can be. The scheme was too short to give us intense personal training, but we were suitably equipped.
The firm had a positive and collegiate atmosphere, and I would honestly enjoy working there. I think that this is a combination of the values espoused by the firm, the work it undertakes and the people who work there.
No better insight than seeing it first hand.
The content of the day was engineered to giving you a brief yet comprehensive insight into the firm and life as a city lawyer. This has been an invaluable experience.
Everything Else
We were paid for our attendance, and 'fed' for the entirety of the scheme.
There was the opportunity to have lunch with an associate of your preferred department, to have dinner with the grad team and networking drinks with the trainees.
The events were really well organised and varied. We played darts and went out for a swanky dinner, had networking drinks with the trainees, had a lunch with our trainee supervisors and had lunch with an associate.
I didn't manage to find out much about this.
A really good few days.
