About You
The Spring week has been an amazing opportunity to meet fascinating people as well as to understand more about the structure of the bank.
I fell a very personalised treat throughout the whole week due to different factors: First, we were hosted, which was hugely appreciated for non-Londoners. Also, the busy timetable of the week has enabled us to touch very different perspectives of the financial and more generally the working world. Coordinators remembered our names, which meant we count for the company.
We were constantly guided through coordinators and HR staff. In case we would not understand something we were encouraged to always ask questions.
We developed our networking skills, which I have already started using. The business acumen received represents a driver in my career.
The Company
Brilliantly structured. There was a variety of activities from different fields.
The whole BAML team has been hugely nice and concerned about our development within the company, which has been very appreciated. Also, the interns I've met were all very nice and smart and I have become friends with some of them.
The group offered me various activities in which I was able to develop different skills. The shadowing sessions were very useful because it made us be hands on work and understand more about the technical aspects of the work. Also the various networking opportunities have made me realise how essential it is for my career.
I now have a good idea of how would working at Bank of America Merrill Lynch be. I have acquired it through the shadowing sessions, as well as being present in the working environment. Talking to current employers and listening to their experience has made me understood what my job could be like.
I have totally integrated the company's culture through the numerous events and people I have talked to. Diversity of thoughts and people is very present across the institution. It opens new perspectives. I can now associate the Bank of America Merrill Lynch core values with what I have lived this week.
The technical content as well as the business panel we have has the opportunity to attend and access have enabled me to understand which division of the company would be more suitable for my profile. I think all the necessary content to make the choice was provided by the company.
Everything Else
Even if the internship was not paid, which is understandable because it is only a week insight, the accusation and transport expenses were covered. Being hosted was determinant in doing the internship. It has been very confortable for interns to attend the whole spring week, with the accommodation sorted out.
We had many networking opportunities since the first day. We were given some guidelines on how to approach people in general, and we then applied them by meeting the employers as well as our peers. Multiple event from the reception to dinners were helpful in developing networking across the bank. I have now, integrated the importance of networking.
It is true that maybe in the beginning the sessions were a bit artificial, but after a couple of events, everything became more natural and smoother.
Many clubs and societies are present within the bank. Also, I was aware that the company had a women support group which was also a very good source of networking. Languages can also be studied through the clubs and societies' program of the group. Other employers voluntarily teach these languages.
I would definitely recommend it, as it has been an invaluable experience that I will always remember. Great people, core values and interesting events have made of this insight week a substantially valuable working experience. I have been able to understand more about the banking world and how my potential future could be.
