The Role
Fantastic place to be, the buzz of the trading floor is always there, there's nothing like it.
It's somewhere where you really have to prove yourself as an intern, if you do what you're asked and impress then I've found you can get feel more valued. Overall though it is generally difficult to do in the 4 weeks on the desks.
Most of the people around you are generally very busy, as such you don't get a huge amount of hand-holding and support.
As you would expect in such a role there was a lot going on. If not directly given something to do there were always people to talk to and things to learn.
Overall we were not given too much responsibility given the nature of the work.
There is no other way to get to know the trading floor than being on it. There's so much happening, the understanding you get from being there and asking questions is simply invaluable.
The Company
Atmosphere was great, a very dynamic environment.
There were a couple of things that we were expecting that didn't eventually happen - for example organised afternoons visiting other desks
Given that it's very difficult to add too much value as an intern, the time and money spent on the interns was apparent.
Offered a full time position at the end of the programme.
The Culture
At the weekends it was good, you could always find fellow interns in the bars around canary wharf on a friday evening.
Pricey, as you would expect in central london. But the pay factors this in.
Central London.
Definitely, spent a day volunteering during the internship.
