About You
The Spring insight program was a fantastic experience. The direct exposure to the bank and the various lines of business within in it was particularly valuable from the point of view of a student from a non-finance background. It was also a great way to network with like minded individuals.
The bank made it clear on day-one that junior talent is a top priority for them. This was highlighted by the fact that directors at the highest positions within the firm came to speak with us and showed genuine interest in the spring interns.
The support provided throughout the various activities was brilliant. We were actively encouraged to ask questions regarding any topic.
The skills I developed were not so relevant in terms of my degree as I come from a non-finance background. However, skills such as networking will assist me when starting my professional career.
The Company
The insight program was very well structured. The schedule was very busy and this ensured that I always had something to do or someone to see.
It was clear throughout the week that the goal was to expose the spring interns to the various lines of business within the bank and enable us to learn more about them. The emphasis was on the professional development of the interns as opposed to us selling ourselves to the bank.
The insight program was an invaluable experience in this regard. Working shadowing was available in various lines of business and the business representatives were incredibly keen to share their day-to-day experiences of working at the bank.
Company culture was a theme that ran throughout the insight program. The company values was one of the very first topics covered in the week.
Being able to get first hand exposure to the bank helped to reinforce the interest in the financial sector. In addition, work shadowing helped to understand what the roles entail on a day-to-day basis.
Everything Else
Transport was reimbursed and accommodation was offered for those who required it.
There were plenty of networking opportunities throughout the week. The networking events happened on an almost daily basis and the representatives of the business were keen to answer any questions from the spring interns.
Activities outside of work was mentioned in the first day. There are plenty of clubs/societies for the employees to get involved with ranging from sports to language classes.
I would definitely recommend the insight program to someone who is considering a career in finance.
