About You
I loved the amount of time spent on the floor and at desks but did not like the fact that HR said they were constantly watching us as it wasn't a relaxed atmosphere and this meant people weren't natural and themselves. I went to a different back who said the complete opposite and that it was not a week long interview at all and I found the atmosphere among the interns a lot more social and relaxed.
Felt highly valued by my mentor/buddy who was extremely encouraging, and with other analysts who gave up their time.
Very little training, was more on the job learning whilst being thrown in the deep end.
Very little in terms of helping me in my degree but very informative about the world of work and helped me decide what divisions I could see myself working in in the future.
The Company
Quite loosely structured in terms of what your analyst gave you to work on but for me that was beneficial and I liked the flexibility and variety of work.
Lovely people and some good laughs with interns and employees. However, often the employees were very busy meaning it could be quiet at times and I felt the other interns would have been more open and natural if HR hadn't said we were constantly being judged and assessed.
Gave lots of time especially in the application process but little training for the spring internship.
Overall a very good overview but of course you can't do all the work because you aren't training and knowledgeable enough and don't work as long hours.
Great for understanding culture as you were mostly working with employees and had presentations on this!
Great, I really learnt about the culture and work in the industry.
Everything Else
There was networking events with both junior and senior employees and you had lots of time on the floors to network with different divisions.
Very good but didn't like that we were obviously constantly being judged and watched by HR in these scenarios.
Yes we had a number of talks or different aspects of the bank!
Certainly, gives a great overall insight and opportunity to network.
