About You
It was a enjoyable experience with many different opportunities for training and networking.
Barclays do emphasize staff training and we are able to see that through the various events organized and through speaking with the employees.
We were always encouraged to ask questions if we had any and the Barclays employees were very hospitable in helping us through this week.
The social style workshop was especially enlightening as I found that learning more about my style and how I may be perceived by others of different styles.
The Company
While there were many events everyday, I found that it was generally well structured with sufficient breaks in between. Though it was rather exhausting with a lot going on everyday.
It was very causal, quite unlike what you would expect from a bank. The Radbroke campus is very beautiful and people here are generally very relaxed.
Barclays do take pride in training and retaining talent, and this spring week was a good example of that. They provide us a lot of information and made clear of potential paths for internship and gradate placement.
One of the most insightful events was the work shadowing, where we were each matched with someone working in a technology role to find out what they do on a daily basis.
Radbroke has a very unique culture, quite unlike a typical banking environment and through spending a week here, we get a glimpse of what it is like to work here. The culture is very relaxed and employees are often free to focus on their work, while everyone is very friendly and would gladly share more about what they are working on.
This had been a very insightful experience and I feel more confident in making more informed decisions on my future career.
Everything Else
Barclays cover expenses such as travel to and from the campus and also we were provided with allowance for food on the campus and in the hotel. We were also paid a lump sum for the entire duration of the week.
There were many networking opportunities including networking lunches, dinner and tech showcases.
Employees here were very friendly and were excited to share their experience working here in Barclays.
There are many sport facilities in Radbroke such as a soccer field, tennis courts and gym, and various societies which were free to use by the employees here
Definitely, this was a valuable experience in learning more about the industry and working in technology in financial services.
