About You
It was a very informative and enjoyable time at spring week. I had the honor to meet so many professionals during the networking events. The work shadowing also gave us an in depth insight of what Barclays really likes to do. In addition, there was support from the recruitment team throughout the week.
There was a lot of respect shown from the senior mangers who delivered presentations during the week and were really humble in any question or queries we had about there job role. We had many opportunities to network with the senior and juniors of the company which made us feel valued and appreciated.
A lot of guidance was given with regards to the summer internship interview and how to do well in it. The seniors gave a lot of there time up just to see us and provide with information which we wanted to know. They also gave there contacts such as LinkedIn so if there is any questions we would like to ask later.
I come from a different educational background which is engineering, so there was not much that i could take on board with regards to information to help me with my degree itself, but the values and certain soft skills which I picked up would help me in any industry i choose to work in.
The Company
The structure was very good. We all received an moblie application before the spring week had started and so we knew what to expect. Initially I felt that the timetable won't be followed but it was, which suggests that it was well structured. A couple of more breaks were set depending on tired and late the day was.
Very friendly and full of energy. There was constant fun and leaning throughout the week. Everyone seemed to have the same passion and motivation as myself and got along really well, although we came from different backgrounds in education. We all would meet up when going back to the hotel.
There was a mid-week session delivered by one of the recruitment team presenting a cv and interview workshop. This was very informative and gave us an ability to work on our self-development and worked towards building a positive personal brand. We could ask questions throughout the presentation and during the breaks if there was something we were unsure about.
On the first day we received a full tour of the Radbroke centre. It was fascinating to see so much going on in a location which is countryside based, however it has so many facilities to enjoy and really become a part of something you enjoy, such as playing sports or singing.
Barclays really focuses on its values. And these values were constantly embedded to us. The company came across as very positive and motivated to change and accepts anyone with maybe a different opinion to others. It showed a whole range of diversity and there was times where we would recommended to mention certain things in our interview to impress the company.
Very valuable. We were given in depth understanding of how the summer and graduate schemes work. In addition, it made us choose whether we would like to be interviewed for a potential chance of getting accepted into the summer internship or just simply opt out, if we felt the technology sector was not for us.
Everything Else
We were paid a total of 250 pounds for the week. In addition, we received a hotel for the stay which cost Barclays about 500 pounds and all the breakfast and dinner that was provided in the hotel was covered. The breakfast was free and dinner had a £15 limit.
There was plenty of opportunities given to network with our cohort, junior and senior team of Barclays. In total there were 3 opportunities. On the Wednesday there was a breakfast and dinner networking session. Then Thursday we were provided with a Lunch networking session. All the networking session were very friendly and quite relaxed.
