Technology Spring Week Intern Review

I really enjoyed the insight due to the involving nature of the week. We were able to get experience through work shadowing and being able to interact with the speakers asking questions and being engaged in the speeches. Also the technology showcase allowed us to understand some of the projects going on at the moment.

The insight week was generally well structured, save for a couple of instances of where the coach time tables from the hotel to the Knutsford Radbroke Hall Site were released later than we would have probably preferred; we were sometimes unsure of what time to wake up and get ready in the morning, but it would usually resolve by 9pm. The rest of the insight was seamless.

The general atmosphere was very positive and everyone was very engaged in what the speakers had to say. The other technology spring week "springers" were all really friendly and we all got on really well. when we were staying in the hotels we had dinner together and enjoyed our time here, working on projects and talking to senior employees of Barclays.

I was able to understand the potential role I may have within the firm and be able to find what kind of experience I would have if I become successful in working at the technology site at Knutsford, Radbroke Hall site. Everyone was really positive about their experiences within the company.

We were continuously told the company values and the e pillars that underpin the Barclays Bank. These were Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence and Stewardship. Different sectors and transaction cycles seem to have different pillars when identifying what to do, and how to hold the company values when they are working to deliver the best service for their customers.

I was able to have my travel cost and was paid for my y time at the Barclays technology spring week at the radbroke hall site in Knutsford. This was helpful as the site is a bit out of the way for many people and would make the journey a little expensive so reimbursement was great.

There were many opportunities to network and meet other employees during the course of the week. For example we had networking breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the spring week. Work shadowing allowed us to meet industry professionals more on a personal level and we were able to find out more.
