About You
I really enjoyed the my spring week insight in Radbroke. It was an amazing opportunity that enabled me to understand the technologies behind the scenes of a bank. The different people I have met from different departments and talked to have made my week of insight a big sense of enjoyment.
I feel that me as well as all the springers were given big importance throughout the week. We were asked questions and our questions were answered. There was curiosity and respect on both the sides: intern or employee. It would have been a little plus if we received individual attention during the week and not just for the interview. But I do understand that that is difficult as specially with 49 interns and only a week time.
All my answers were answered deeply. I have gained so much more then I had expected. The guidance was really professional. I received support in many different ways; whether it is professional, skills, or just self-improvement, all the advice as been highly detailed. I appreciate all the help everyone has put in and given answers about their life or work.
Some of the information I got was a confirmation of what I had read or learned through my studies. That is very helpful. I have also acquired many new skills as well as improved some like communication and other soft skills. Those skills will help me in my degree and professional career.
The Company
The insight was very well structured. The use of time was amazingly distributed. We make the most of all the time we had during the whole week. The coordinators of our group were really passionate and helpful.
The atmosphere was really good. I started of not knowing any springer to slowly talking and discovering everyone. Everyone was friendly and highly skilled. Everyone was ready to help in their area of skills. We had serious times, where we worked and listened and researched and others where we were laughing and had a lot of fun. Very balanced.
The firm as invested so much in me and my fellow colleagues. Helping us build ourselves in terms of our career and bringing our skills and improving us in academic ways.
Barclays organised my events where we were able to freely talk to employees. And two shadowing session. In my opinion one or two more shadow sessions in areas that interest us would have been useful.
The insight was, in my opinion, extremely helped me to understand the company culture. We met employees from different backgrounds and different departments. We had opportunities to understand their whole career path and interests. And also how the different departments are connected together. People are very open to make us understand of their work and but also the ambience in their teams.
Everything was extremely valuable for my career path. Everything I learned was either applicable to computer science or management or both.
Everything Else
We received accommodation and we had allowance for food or we got provided food.
There were many opportunities from meeting other employees and networking. Some of them are: improving my communication skills, but also understand the ambience of Barclays and get professional opinions on my career path and accurate answers to my technical and personal questions. We were also able to connect on a more personal level with them to clearly understand our potential.
The networking and social opportunities were really fruitful. Talking to the varied positions in the company really made my understand the point of views of every side of the company. It might be more useful to tell us in advance which person does what kind of work. Therefore we could have talked more about what we are in the industry.
Yes, we found out about the volunteering work that we could do to help schools in Africa. Which really interested me. However, there was only that.
I would highly recommend to a friend who has not done any similar internship.
