About You
I have enjoyed the insight extensively. It let me understand the firm, the technologies used, the values and the business model really well. There is such a great amount of importance given to technology here. Barclays definitely realises what they should invest on. The week was informative and entertaining at the same time.
I am an International student and I feel giving and receiving respect to each other is significant in any atmosphere. The diversity at the campus is mind blowing. I met people from all over the world and they stood by the values of Barclays of respect and togetherness. It is like a family.
The guidance received was immense. After my second day at Barclays, I could make out what job I'd like to pursue further ahead in life. I told the HR team about it, discussed with them about the skills required and they set up a work shadowing session with one of the employees so that I could have a deep insight and clear all my queries. It was clearly very helpful for me.
At one of the sessions, the springers were taught about leadership and followership. It was more about understanding where one stands, whether he/she is a leader or a follower. We examined our qualities and we got to know about the positives and negatives of them. These core skills are going to be used in my entire life, especially when I work in a team.
The Company
The insight included everything one would need - informative presentations on APIs, cyber security, financial markets, barclaycard and app developments and interactive sessions like work shadowing and networking dinner. There were breaks in every two hours. We had the time to relax and then put our best in the upcoming sessions.
The atmosphere was lovely. I was at Knutsford and the Radbroke campus is beautiful. The people are helpful and interactive. Whenever you pass by someone, he or she will look at you and pass a smile. The greetings make your day better. The springers were quite collaborative and joyful. They supported team-learning which gave a great opportunity to all of us.
They trained us by letting us know about the life of an employee at Barclays in technology. Plus, we were given a tour of the campus including the Command Centre and the ATM machines development Centre so we learnt how they were being used, how they presently are being operated and how they plan to improve on them.
Everything Else
Barclays looks after its employees and invests in them. They provided us with all the basic requirements like food and shelter. Plus, they paid us for the week. Our travel expenses were reimbursed after the week. Also, coaches were provided for everyday travel till Radbroke Hall and back to the hotel.
