About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the Women's Immersion Programme as I was able to learn more about investment banking and learn the dynamics of my team. My team were so helpful and answered every question I had. I also liked the panel sessions and case studies that occurred every day as it gave me a well rounded view of Nomura.
I helped on a few projects during my time at Nomura and I was surprised at the responsibility they gave me from the first day. I felt very valued and apart of the team.
I received lots of support during the 2 weeks from my fellow peers on the programme, my buddy as well as other team members. I wasn't afraid to ask for help as I knew they would be happy to help.
I have developed my view of the economy which will be helpful for providing context in the Economics degree. Now, I'm not afraid to admit when I don't know something because I'm now aware that asking questions is the best way to learn. I have learnt excel shortcuts which will assist me in a career in banking due to its efficiency.
The Company
The programme was well structured as we were given a timetable at the beginning of the programme which included all of the activities we were involved in. We were given time to sit at our desk also in between activities to help our team.
The atmosphere was very stimulating and positive. My team were very busy but were happy to help and you could see they enjoyed their job.
We had a full day training on the first day to teach us about the industry and how to use products such as excel. People invested lots of time in me and met up with me for various coffee chats throughout the day.
I have developed quite a good idea of what a career in investment banking looks like considering we were there for 2 weeks. It is understandable that I wasn't able to work on a deal from start to finish as the time scale a deal can range from months to years.
I got a good understanding of the company culture by talking to many of the workers around different areas of the bank. The culture is very inclusive and collaborative which is what I definitely experienced.
Very valuable. I could ask questions, go for coffee chats and experience work I would have to be doing on a daily basis as an analyst. During my time I got a well rounded view of the industry which has helped me decide my future career path.
Everything Else
We had 3 networking sessions where food and drinks were provided. We were able to email other people around the bank and they would make time to meet up with you for a coffee.
I really enjoyed them as people were helpful and interested in what I had to say. I met lots of people who I will definitely keep in contact with.
Yes, I found out that some teams go on annual ski trips and others go for drinks every week.
I would recommend this insight as it is a fun yet informative experience where you can get a good idea of investment banking.
