About You
I live working around cosmetics and skincare it’s my favourite industry! I was given actual responsabilities and felt like I was contributing to the team. The people were all so welcoming and lovely and I felt out of my comfort zone but not uncomfortable.
L’oreal has such a social environment which is amazing. This is a positive in the way people are welcoming and friendly. But also a little outfacing as a newcomer as everyone has very strong relations already.
I was given guidance on most tasksa and was still able to exercise creativity and autonomy. This was rare for an internship of this length.
It gave me amazing insight into marketing and the makeup and skincare market generally. I will try and use these analytical skills in future careers and generally as a consumer! I learnt so much about brand identity and how fundamental this is!
The Company
I was given regular task as and attended meetings and store visits. This meant I had enough structure but could still work autonomously and creatively which I enjoyed.
People at L’oreal Is sociable but efficient and tasks are completed. I enjoy this environment as it’s dynamic and not too serious but also very efficient.
L’oreal seem genuinely interested in investing in individuals. I learnt that this week through the amount of personal training I had on different data bases, body language, and work ethic. This is refreshing for a company of this size as there seems to be an interest in individual goals and not just company goals.
I have lots of reposbability and attended meetings and got briefs like any other employer. Preparing for the assessment center also have me insight into giving a pitch and researching a product on my own. I understand this would be a very busy and demanding role. But enjoy thriving in that kind of situtaion.
I was launched into the company culture from day one. People were genuine and realistic but friendly and approachable. I enjoy the sociable aspect of the company culture. But also admire the way efficiency is not compromised. This makes a fun but effective working environment which I would enjoy to work in.
The content of my day was real marketing tasks which I researched and worked on alone and with other team members. This experience confirmed to em that I would love to work in the cosmetics industry. Hopefully in luxury as I love the prestige of these products. I’ve particualry loved marketing and the creative aspects of this but also think I’d be good at selling and PR
Everything Else
Access to lunch and reclaiming travel costs which is good. Difficult if you don’t live in London- I don’t, as have to navigate way around city / find office / go to store visits with little experience of the city. Also added to the pressure of my situtaion as I wasn’t in my home environment. But we’ll worth the effort.
Super sociable coffee culture! I was able to chat to people from different functions which wa so useful. People seem genuinely willing to help you out and chat which was so useful!
Social activity planned on fort day and chance to go to others too. The other interns were lovely people and super easy to work with. I hope we keep in touch.
Seem to be some activities for employers out of work. Didn’t look much into this. Co workers seemed positive.
Competitive but well worth it! Been such a good week and by far the best placement I’ve done. Hoping to go on to secure an internship for longer. Love the environment and fast pace. The products and creative and personality opportunities are great.
