The Role
Everyone was very welcoming and I felt I fitted into my department easily. Lots of other interns too who all seemed really nice, so got to know quite a few others.
Very welcoming and quite a few said I could go and ask them about anything I didn't understand at any time which is always reassuring.
Being in the summer, my manager was away for a few weeks which wasn't ideal, particularly at the beginning of my placement. However, others in the department kept me busy and filled in well! When my manager came back it was better and I was given more to do.
Quite a lot of time spent doing not very much. When I got on a job it was very interesting and I enjoyed it, but due to the time of year and not much work going around, jobs were at a premium. Kept myself busy on smaller tasks but also was left with a fair bit of spare time.
Just the right amount, I feel. I was working as part of a team on any big project I did, so there wasn't too much pressure but still felt like my input was important to the task: no-one was standing over me checking I was doing it right. I felt I could ask any of the rest of the team about anything I wasn't sure about, but it was still up to me to perform whatever task needed doing.
Gave me a great idea of what its like not only to work at KPMG, but to work for any big company. Gave me motivation to work hard in my degree so I can obtain a job like this in the future!
The Company
Regularly pretty quiet due to the nature of the job: client visits all over the world! But everyone who was in was always friendly and fun with pub lunches and things on Fridays!
Took quite a while to receive an offer after being told I had been successful, but once that was all sorted it all went fine.
I was offered lots of different training opportunities, but spent most of my time in the office as I though it'd be more valuable experience.

Very!
The Culture
Took us out on the first night which was great, but didn't organise anything after that, leaving it up to us to organise any socials. Met up every day in the canteen too.
Lived up home so pretty cheap, Birmingham not bad for prices.
Huge city with lots of bars and clubs
Not really
