About You
I really enjoyed the experience on the vacation scheme. I learned a lot from my supervisors and other trainees and associates whilst I was sat in Corporate and Finance. I also enjoyed meeting new people and getting to know them. The social events were a great deal of fun too.
I felt very valued; I felt that I actually contributed to the work my supervisors or others around me were doing. I also received challenging work, which showed that my supervisors trusted in my capabilities, which made me feel that my work was appreciated. This made me feel valued as an asset of the firm.
My trainee buddies and supervisors were very supportive throughout the whole vacation scheme. I felt that I could ask them any questions and they were willing to teach me. I also got a lot of help from other people throughout the firm for a presentation I was doing and greatly appreciated it.
I have developed skills, particularly attention to detail, communication, networking, report-writing and legal research skills that will definitely assist me in my future career. I also got really helpful feedback that I will definitely take on with me in the future when I start my career. Overall, a great learning experience.
The Company
Well-structured and organised. Everything was spread out nicely.
Everyone was friendly and supportive.
The scheme only lasted for 2 weeks and therefore it is hard for me to gauge on how much the firm has invested in me. However, I sat in for talks and presentations on different practice areas which were a part of training and development. I found them very useful.
I managed to speak with many people from the firm on what their daily routine, work and schedules were like. This helped me to gain an insight into what it was like to work with the firm full-time. I had many opportunities as the firm organised a lot of social events.
The vacation scheme helped me to understand the firm's culture a great amount. I sat in for talks where the presenters touched on the firm's values and culture. I also managed to speak with many people and realised how friendly the firm was. The firm focuses heavily on individual growth and maintaining client relationships.
The content of the vacation scheme was very valuable in helping me decide my future career path. I experienced the working environment and type of work a lawyer does and really enjoyed myself. This experience consolidated my decision to practice law in the future. I look forward to undertake the tasks that my supervisors are currently doing.
Everything Else
I was remunerated.
Yes there were many opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the firm. There were many social events including drinks with trainees, lunch with supervisors and trainees and pizza-making with trainees and other vacation schemers. I managed to meet many people in the firm through these events which was great.
The networking/social events were very enjoyable. We were provided with lunch and drinks at these events and there were many attendees. As a result I got to experience the culture of the firm through meeting a wide array of people. The events were also designed to be fun such as the pizza-making event.
Quiz night.
Yes, I would definitely recommend this vacation scheme to a friend. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and learned a lot. I think my friends would enjoy this vacation scheme as the firm is extremely supportive and friendly. It also offers an assessment day at the end of it which is always a bonus.
