About You
It was an anjoyabke experience with lots of employees available to talk to and ask questions to. There were also opportunities to meet other people on the programme and interact with them. The content was varied and not boring and allowed us to gain an insight into life at EY.
It was clear throughout the few days that EY valued us as potential future employees. The environment was not overly competitive and instead it was friendly and it seemed like they were trying to help us develop rather than deciding right now whether we were exactly what and who they want.
The guidance and support was pretty good. We were divided into groups at tables and each table was assigned a leader who was an EY employee. They were there to answer all the questions we had and guide us through all the tasks that we were set throughout the programme.
The presentation skills I developed will definitely assist me in my degree as I learnt how to present concisely and confidently. I also learnt to process varied information quickly and enjoyed that it wasn’t something related to my degree. This allowed me to develop skills which I don’t work on at university, such an business analysis.
The Company
It was very well structured. We were sent a schedule beforehand and it was stuck to. Everything happened on time and we all knew what was going on. There were good scheduled lunch and coffee breaks too. The days begun and finished on time also which was appreciated by everyone.
The atmosphere was really great. All the employees were friendly as were all the other students taking part in the programme. We were introduced to EY as a ‘friendly’ company and everyone I met loved up to this over the few days. It was a very welcoming and positive atmosphere.
They spent time talking to us about how we can improve our strengths and use them to improve our professional and personal lives. They spent time helping us to understand our personality types and how they can help us to work in a team environment - this was particularly useful.
We came into contact with lots of EY employees during a speed networking event and therefore were introduced to lots of different perspectives as to what it is like to work at EY. We were able to ask questions about daily life at EY and meet people across all service lines.
The company culture was continually emphasised to us over the two days. EY was presented as a friendly and forward thinking company with a focus on collaboration- this was emphasised as particularly important. Interacting with employees allowed us to see how important the collaborative culture was to every one of them.
The content was hugely valuable in regards to this. I was able to gain a greater understanding of what the different service lines do at EY and which one I might be better suited to. This will help me as I apply for summer internships and also graduate jobs i the future.
Everything Else
They provided accommodation in the Hilton next to the EY offices and where the event was taking place. They provided breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. They reimbursed travel to and from the event also and there was a social on the Thursday night where there was bowling, food and games.
This was a huge part of the programme and very well done. There were a huge range of people and employees to talk to and we could ask questions. They were all very friendly and approachable and so it was easy to ask questions even when they felt like slightly stupid ones!
Yes definitely. I allowed you to learn about EY as a firm and all the different services they offer. We also learnt about their recruitment processes and their future possibilities for students. It was enjoyable and I also met lots of really lovely people during the programme. It was a very good experience.
