About You
I enjoyed the insight a lot as it really helped me get an idea of what EY does, and more specifically, what the company culture is like, as you can't really get that information outside. I enjoyed working on the 2 case studies on the second day as it tested my knowledge and also helped me develop soft skills
Everyone that was involved in the insight day from the company was very warm and welcoming and answered all the questions that I had, which made me feel like they really valued my participation in the insight program and were genuinely looking to recruit talented students. They made an effort to make us feel at home
I received a lot of guidance from all EY employees, but mostly from my table host who answered all the questions very well and helped clear any doubts I had about the company or the tasks that we were assigned. The student recruitment team also were very encouraging and approachable
Since the program was only 2 days I did not feel like I developed as many skills as I would have liked to. However, presenting the case study in front of 100+ people helped improve my confidence and definitely strengthened my soft skills. The information provided was helpful for me to understand what to expect of a career in EY and especially how to succeed in assessment centers
The Company
The insight was very well structured and organized as the team had a thorough plan of both the days. I really liked how they called on lots of different levels of women speakers from different divisions as we were able to get a flavor of everything. I also thought the speed networking sessions was conducted very efficiently
The atmosphere was friendly, collaborative and supportive and I got a chance to talk to a lot of different students who were in similar positions to me. The social organized was also very fun and helped make the atmosphere on the second day more casual and less daunting. All the speakers also made the atmosphere inspiring
This was limited as the program was only 2 days but the team definitely tried their best to incorporate as much as they could in a short time. They helped develop my soft skills such as teamwork, collaboration and presentation skills that made me more confident. Making us interact and network with other people was also very beneficial
This was done to a very high extent as a lot of the questions especially in the panel were helpful as they also specified and went into the detail of their individual roles. The case studies helped us gain a better understanding in the different service lines. The presentations by the tax and audit team were also useful
The insight definitely helped me understand the company culture as we understood the company's values and just the way that all the speakers and the members of the team interacted with each other. However, this could be improved by maybe more work shadowing. Opportunities by extending the program a little longer as seening someone work in the company would be more useful
It was not that useful as I am still undecided but it definitely helped me understand what I was not interested in and did not want to do. It helped me in a way that I am more focused on thinking about potential career aspects after university, that I wasn't before
Everything Else
I live in London therefore did not incur any expenses except travel by the tube
Yes there were. we could ask questions to all the speakers, especially the panelists. There was also a speed networking session for an hour in the office where members from all the different teams in the various service lines were present and we could talk to them and ask questions for 5 minutes each
They were good as I got most of my questions answered however I wish there were more opportunities to interact with the TAS and advisory teams as it was all very focused on assurance and tax, the two service lines that I am personally not that interested in. They could have also done sit down lunches with some people in the company to get us to network with them more informally
This was limited. In the speed networking session there was a table on the women's network which helped me gain a little insight into opportunities outside of work. However I wish they spoke more about the other networks as well, and other things like EYU which is the charity side of the organisation
If someone is interested in any of the 4 service lines in EY I would definitely recommend it as it helped clear lots of doubts and is good for the experience. It gives you a good and brief introduction into the professional services business and you get to experience this through the eyes of a leading firm in the industry
