    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I found it very interactive and informative. Before coming I was worried what would be expected of me and how serious everything would be taken. Whilst we have learnt many things about the firm, and had the chance to do some serious networking, it has all been enjoyable due to the opportunities to meet new people, as well as the friendly staff.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt like the people running the programme were really trying to sell us the different things they offer, which made me feel as if they really wanted us to apply and join the business. Especially as the focus was on Women in Business, they showed us lots of facts to make us want to be a woman in business.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Before the insight there was lots of information and communication on where we needed to go and what we were going to do. We were given a mentor on the table we were sat on, and she provided us with an in-depth knowledge of the different service lines, and also helped us understand any technical language.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learned so much about the different service lines within the company, which has made me realise what avenue I would like to take for my career after graduating. Also having had the chance to meet current graduates at EY, gave me the chance to ask how I can succeed in the application process.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The programme was very well organised. Before we got here we knew the exact itinerary. The day was kept to schedule and worked efficiently for the use of time. The amount of breaks kept us all interacting with each other, and broke up the intense sessions - as well as the good food!

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone was very positive and happy to get involved. The hosts were accommodating and didn’t pressure us to answer questions in front of everyone, yet encouraged pasticipation which got everyone involved. All the people were friendly and also excited to be on the placement, which made the atmosphere very relaxing but also exciting.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I felt that the company really worked hard to ensure that each individual knew exactly what was going on, and provided assistance to anyone who needed it. They were happy to answer every question, and we were told that no question was irrelevant. Because the company provided my hotel, travel and food, I felt that they really invested their time and money to ensuring I had a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • We were able to talk to graduates and staff members to ask questions and find out what they did on a day to day basis. This really gave an insight into the potential jobs that we could have in the future. We also learnt in depth about the 4 service lines.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The values of EY were really emphasised relight the programme. Also, hearing the panel talk about why they work and stay at EY, and finding out it’s mainly because of the friendly and inclusive people, really helped me to understand what it would be like to work within the company.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Before coming to the programme I had a broad idea of the different service lines. I’m now leaving with a full insight into what specific decision of a specific service line I would like to work in, because of all the information provided and the people we were able to speak to.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • The company provided my travel to and from Tamworth. They also provided a 2 night stay at a 4 star hotel with breakfast lunch and dinner provided. They also hosted a social for us. They hired out a private venue, and provided us with food and drinks for the evening.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There was specific time allocated during the programme to speed networking. This allowed us to speak to different people from all of the different service lines, find out exact what their role was, and ask them any questions bag we had about their specific role, as well as the company as a whole.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking opportunity was a great experience as we spoke to a range of people across the whole company. The social event was brilliant as I was able to meet like minded individuals who had similar career prospects to me. This was also useful as we were able to share ideas and tips.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I spoke to a current employee who was actually attending a work social that evening. I was also made aware of the EY foundation, and other opportunities for entrepreneurs. A lot was said about the opportunity for development and training within work and outside of work, as well as many travel opportunities.
