About You
The Discover EY - Women in Business programme provided a good insight into the service lines of Tax and Assurance, and I felt hugely motivated to continue on towards applying for the summer internship in 2019. The employees were all really friendly and it provided a good atmosphere through the insight programme.
During the two days, we were split into groups and were given "hosts" who worked within the different service lines of EY, and gave us the opportunity to network. This really helped me get used to the culture of EY and allowed to ask any questions we had to the staff, when completing the given tasks.
The Discover EY programme helped develop my presentation skills a lot, as we were required to give presentations concerning different problems companies faced, and gave us an insight into how the different service lines help form a mutual decision for the progression of a company. It developed my team working and time management skills, especially during group discussions.
The Company
The Discover EY programme was structured very well, first giving introductions to EY, as well as the Tax and Assurance service lines. We eere later given the opportunity to network with employees and ask in more detail about the service lines, as well as completing different team work and presentation tasks during the course of the two days.
Everyone was very enthusiastic and friendly, as well as open to answering questions regarding the work life at EY and what each service line entails. The organisers were friendly and the other students engaged well within the programme. Overall the atmosphere was good, bith within the programme and withing EY as a whole.
They provided a lot of different tasks that developed my team working, time management and presentation skills, holding various discussion regarding different case studies and gave a really insight into what working in EY would actually entail. They also helped develop the different skills through their recruitment process, with a phone interview and online tests.
The Discover EY programme really helped showcase the work environment within the company and emphasised the role of women within the company. They were open and honest about the hard work and long hours, but a bit more detail about what employees actually do within the service line might have been helpful.
A lot of talks by the employees of EY really helped me understand what the world culture was like at EY, with the hierarvhy being quite flat and everyone being very friendly and respectful of each other regardless of their role within the firm. It was very useful, especially through networking.
I fell the content provided was very useful as a brief introduction and overview was given regarding the different service lines EY offers. Networking also allowed us to discuss the services with the employees. However, I still feel they could have provided a bit more information about day to day work in EY.
Everything Else
There was a whole section of the day dedicated to networking with employees. There were a lot of employees from different service lines and we were given the opportunity to network with the organisers of the even during the breaks and lunches through the two days. There was also a social in the evening where we could network with the even organisers.

There were different things that employees could get involved in outside of work, including joining different networks, like the woman's network where female employees could network with Partners higher up in the company. There were also a lot of opportunites for volunteering within the company and being part of networking events.
