About You
It was very enjoyable and had lots of different group activities, more on the second day which made it much more engaging. The first day involved lots of presentations and listening which although was tiring, it was very informative. The people presenting were very enthusiastic which made it more engaging also.
It became clear that EY are very focused on their employees and do genuinely care about people. This strongly follows their morals and all the staff that we met got on very well and also treated us very well. The food was also very good and there were lots of breaks for tea and coffee!
We were able to talk to many different members of me also at different levels such as senior managers and new graduates as well as a partner. This allowed us to get a better insight of all areas of the company. We also had a member of staff per table which helped answer any questions we had.
It inspired me to go for a summer internship with them and hopefully this will progress further. It gave me a much clearer understanding of how I can develop skills and on assessment centres. I now know what companies are looking at during assessment centres and therefore how to progress further. Now I just have to see if it works!
The Company
We had a schedule which we stuck to and was very clear to us. It flowed well and we also had a good amount of breaks to break up the day and keep us engaged. One area was the speed dating which got quite repetitive as many questions were asked at all bases erode I reccomend fewer bases.
Very positive. All the staff all got along well and were happy to chat to us share their experience of EY which was very useful. Also it was obvious everyone there wanted to be there and everyone participating showed lots of enthusiasm and was a great opportunity to network with others.
As we were only there for 2 days there was not much opportunity for EY to invest in us however they did offer us a fast tracked opportunity to the summer internships as we had already answered questions online completed a telephone interview previously. Whilst there wasn’t great investment this was only due to he time constraint.
We had the opportunity to ask many different people what they do on a day to day basis and they were more than happy to answer our questions and chat to us therefore I feel I learnt a lot and got a good understanding of which it would be like to work with EY
The company values were emphasized throughout the day and it was clear that EY believes in its values greatly. They also demonstrated this to us and allowed us to see that in order to seagulls at EY you had to share the same values as well as have the right skills.
It has definilty inspired me to go for a placement at EY as I think I share a lot of the company’s values and from speaking to the employees I feel I would fit in well. However I still am unsure which area of the business I would apply to when I choose to apply.
Everything Else
We were not paid for attending as it was only 2 days before all travel costs were reimbursed. As I live close to London I commuted in each day however those coming from further afield were given a room at the Hilton where they stayed for the duration of the insight.
We did a speed dating event but welly the opportunity to meet lots of different divisions and many people who we were able to network with. We also had a social where we could further socialise with each other and thus help to start build our own working network for the future.
There was a speed networking event which helped us be able to meet others in different areas of the business. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly and made us all feel like we could speak to everyone. There was a cool social as well at the end of the first day which let us get to know each other in a chilled environment.
Many people said that they were part of societies and the company stressed the point that they encourage employees to join sports teams and have hobbies outside of work. But also to bring your whole self to work and not leave your hobbies separate from your working life to help improve your working career.
Yes. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly it really provided a great opportunity to learn about one of the big four without feeling like they were competing for you. This was by far the most friendly environment and I would reccomend this to a friend for definite, I think it would be a great company to work at.
